Pastor FEMI EMMANUEL Tells City People
On Thursday 29th February, 2024, City People Publisher, SEYE KEHINDE led a team, made up of Reporter, OLUSOLA ABIODUN and Photographer, MUSILIU ADENIJI to visit Pastor Femi Emmanuel, the General Overseer of Livingspring Chapel International at his Lagos Church on Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja.
He talked about what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should do right now, below are the excerpts of the interview.
If you have the opportunity to sit face-to-face with the President, what will you tell him to do?
What I will tell Pres. Tinubu is that no matter what it takes, he should restructure. Let’s go back to True federalism, which is what Nigeria was meant to be.
God never created Nigeria to be one nation. No! He created us different nations, but we can agree to be one country. But that has to be negotiated. It has to be agreed on. It should be everybody run your economy, run your security, guard your borders. Do what is natural with you, what is cultural with you. If you want to rears, cows, rear cow. If you want to trade do trading.
Look at the Eastern part of Nigeria they are wonderful in Commerce. They are great in production let them do that. And let us collaborate and let each region or sector pay a particular percentage to the national. As it is now, the centre is too strong. What we are running really is a military system and our Constitution is like a military decree. Like I said it can never be amended. It says We The People agreed, where did we meet to agree? The first opening paragraph of our Constitution is a lie. Where did we meet that we will have a 36 states and the larger are given to the North? Where did we meet to say we will have 774 local governments and the greatest number of local governments are given to the North? And it is the local government and the landmarks you used in sharing revenue, that you used in sharing sit in the National Assembly.
These is no bill that can pass through that National Assembly if it is not North supported. Because they are the majority I was the speaker of the house, the majority will have their say the majority will have their say. That is why they will tell you, you have your representative there. Talk to them, take it to the National Assembly. Because they know nothing can pass through the National Assembly without the Northern acceptance of it. Look at the petroleum bill, look at how many years it stayed before passing it. Even after passing it what has come out of it? But the North East rehabilitation immediately was passed.
If I have the opportunity to sit with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I will say look you are doing well, you are doing your best but go for federalism. It is not going to be easy but if you can get that done you will go down in history as a saviour of this country. Every Nigerian knows that we can not continue this way. We can not last the next 10-20 years, this way.
We can not! Because it is all a lie. It is all fraud, so if I see him that is all, I will say RESTRUCTURE this country. Let’s go back to pre- 1966. Let’s modify it, let’s start from there.
