A few weeks back, City People Publisher, SEYE KEHINDE and ISAAC ABIMBADE, visited him in his Allen-Ikeja office. He shared with us his experience and what people should know before investing in real estate
What has been your experience since the beginning of the year?
To me, even though the economy is unstable in the country currently, yet, the real estate sector is not really lagging behind when it comes to the growth of the industry. Because we have seen tremendous change in the industry. A lot of people are starting their own company and others are begining to see bigger opportunities in real estate sector and the government also are doing one or two programmes to sensitize real estate practices in Nigeria. With all these, I believe it’s really moving forward.
We also noticed that you do a lot more apart from real estate. You are also into the network aspect. What is the concept behind it?
The whole concept is to offer people the opportunity to earn an extra income. I started that journey some years ago when I graduated from the university in the year 2005. I decided to venture into a sales business. I started with a network marketing business. At a point, I saw a reason to start sensitizing people on how they can earn income through marketing. So we created what we call the Freedom Club Academy. It’s an academy that’s focused on training and empowering entrepreneurs that needed knowledge to excel in sales, marketing and building their personal brands and businesses. So far so good, we have trained over 5000 people. Many of these people own their companies and businesses today, etc. It has been a phenomenon.
We have many people who come to us and by listening to us their lives change and at the end of the day they are able to start something and you can see how their lives are changing immediately. And that was the goal of the academy. To empower people we also show them various opportunities in the marketplace.
A lot of people don’t know they can make money through their mobile phones. Many of them are at home wasting but the moment you now show them the way, they start making money.

Recently you launched some products. Can you share with us some of these projects?
We launched Aje (Wealthy residence) in IbejuLekki. We looked at the growth of that area. It’s very important to also key into this area and luckily we were about to launch one there recently. Aje is a luxury estate of 25 acres of land. It has so many social amenities like a football court, well center, and game center. Wellness with maximum security with a tarred road. We have launched the project and people are already keying to the project.
We also launched Oba Max. This estate was designed to decongest the fast-growing population of Lagos. It’s situated at the Sagamu interchange. Because when you look at the real estate market, we have about two major markets. We have the high-end market and we have the low-end market. A lot of us in the real estate aren’t paying much attention to this low-end market and that’s why we launched that project (Oba Max) to address the low end. This will enable a lot of people to own their homes and that’s why we are selling it for 400 thousand naira for a plot of land. Since we launched it, a lot of people have bought it and are still buying it. Despite the cheap price of the estate, we are still providing good roads, a green ecosystem where people can live comfortably. We are starting our perimeter fencing by December and many other things as well.
What is your own take on the Ikorodu axis and the Lagos Ibadan expressway axis (Mowe/Magboro)? Between these two locations, where do you tell people to buy?
Both areas are good for investment. The challenge people usually face going to Ikorodu is traffic and that’s around Ojota and inside Ikorodu but right now, with the proposed 4th Mainlandbridge, that’s going to cut off the mainland completely. So, if anyone is investing in Ikorodu it’s a good investment. It is an excellent one because once they complete the 4th Mainland Bridge, the traffic will disappear. You do not need to travel through the mainland to connect Island again.
Talking about Mowe, Magboro, Arepo axis, these are excellent places to invest. No1, Tue road is completed. Beautifully completed. If you are going from Berger to Mowe now is less than 10 minutes. Even if you still have something around Sagamu and its environs, it is still an excellent investment. My advice to those people is that, when you are buying real estate buy from the legitimate ones. Make sure you are buying from genuine people and real estate company.
If you are buying in those areas you are making the right choice because what gives your land or properties opportunity to appreciate in value is accessibility. And if there is accessibility in Ikorodu and Ibadan road axis, why not?
We have another project in Ikorodu called Brookview estate. We are going there because we know these two areas are very important right now.
What about the Badagry axis?
For the Badagry axis, yes for industrial purposes, I say yes. But for a property that will fast appreciate and grow in value, we have mentioned Ikorodu, Lagos/Ibadan expressway axis. But another location where people shouldn’t miss is Ibeju-Lekki axis. You can’t get it wrong in those places. I tell people that if you don’t buy anything in Ibeju-Lekki and Epe areas, they will regret for the rest of their lives. I will give you an example. In 2015, someone took me to Dangote refinery and showed me land for 1.8 million naira and I told the man that you didn’t see Lekki to show me land to buy. Then, the Dangote refinery was just coming up. They were just erecting fences. The man was practically begging me that they are building fertilizer company etc but I was not seeing it, today that same land is selling for 55 million naira. Ibeju-Lekki alone has over 200 billion investment in that area. What about the deep sea port?
It will become the Miami of Lagos in the nearest future because a lot will be done in that axis. The airport is also coming up. What Lekki/Ikoyi/VI have experienced in terms of development, Ibeju axis will be more than that.
