Born into an influential political family, Yusuf’s life has often been under public scrutiny. However, despite his family background, Yusuf has managed to maintain a relatively private life, focusing on his education, business ventures, and community contributions.

City People took a peep into the biography of Yusuf and we realised that he has accomplished a lot. He is 33.

Let’s quickly reveal that Yusuf Buhari was born on April 23, 1992, in Daura, Katsina State. He is the only surviving son of Muhammadu Buhari, who served as military Head of State from 1984 to 1985 and later became the democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023. His mother, Aisha Buhari, is also an influential figure known for her advocacy work concerning women’s health, children’s education, and human rights.

Yusuf comes from a large family. He has 4 full siblings: Zahra Buhari, Halima Buhari Sheriff, Fatima Buhari, and Hadiza Buhari. Additionally, Yusuf has 4 half-siblings from his father’s first marriage to Safinatu Yusuf, who sadly passed away in 2006. His half-brother, Musa Buhari, was the only other son of Muhammadu Buhari, but he also passed away at a young age, leaving Yusuf as the sole surviving son in the family.

Growing up as the son of one of this most well-known political family, Yusuf’s childhood was filled with both privilege and responsibility. His father’s political journey exposed him to leadership and governance from an early age. However, Yusuf chose to stay relatively out of the public eye during his formative years, which led to a quieter and more personal upbringing compared to some other political figures’ children.

Yusuf Buhari’s family legacy is rooted in leadership, service, and national influence. His father, Muhammadu Buhari, is known for his strong stand against Corruption and his dedication to restoring order and discipline in Nigeria. As a result, the Buhari family name carries significant weight within Nigerian politics. Yusuf, despite being raised in a family with such a legacy, has forged his path, focusing on his education, career, and public service.

His family’s prominence has undoubtedly shaped his public persona, but it has also presented challenges in maintaining privacy. Nonetheless, Yusuf has managed to carve out his own identity while continuing to contribute to his family’s legacy of service to the country.

Yusuf Buhari’s educational journey has been one of both local and international exposure. After completing his primary and secondary education in Nigeria, he travelled abroad to pursue higher education. Yusuf attended the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom, where he earned a degree in Business Management. His time at Surrey exposed him to international business practices, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills, which would play a pivotal role in his later ventures.

In addition to his degree in Business Management, Yusuf also obtained a diploma in Financial Management, which broadened his understanding of financial systems, investment strategies, and economic planning. This combination of business management and financial expertise provided Yusuf with a solid foundation to venture into both private business and public service.

Following his return to Nigeria, Yusuf Buhari ventured into the business world, where he engaged in various private initiatives. Though Yusuf prefers to keep the specifics of his business ventures private, it is known that he has been involved in a range of business activities. His education in business management and financial management equipped him with the tools necessary to navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship.

While Yusuf is not as outspoken about his business dealings as other figures in his position, his professional success has been notable. His entrepreneurial endeavours reflect his desire to contribute to the economic development of Nigeria, particularly in sectors that are essential for the country’s growth.

His approach to business is conservative and strategic, which helps maintain a low public profile while still allowing him to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economy. Whether through investments, management roles, or other business activities, Yusuf has made his mark in the private sector.

In December 2021, Yusuf Buhari was appointed the District Head of Kwasarawa in Daura, Katsina State. This title was given to him by the Emir of Daura, a significant honour that ties Yusuf directly to the Governance and development of his community. The title of Talban Daura, which Yusuf holds, signifies his role as an influential figure in local governance.

As the Taliban Daura, Yusuf is responsible for overseeing local affairs, supporting community development initiatives, and assisting with matters that concern the well-being of the people. This position signifies more than just a ceremonial title—it represents Yusuf’s active involvement in shaping his community’s future and his commitment to improving the lives of his fellow citizens. His leadership role in the community has helped cement his standing as a public servant who is dedicated to making tangible improvements.

The appointment also shows that Yusuf is gradually transitioning into roles that will allow him to influence both the private and public sectors. As the son of a former president, his career choices will likely continue to be of significant public interest.

In 2021, Yusuf Buhari married Zahra Bayero, the daughter of Emir Nasir Ado Bayero of Bichi, Kano State. The marriage was a notable event in Nigeria, attended by numerous high-profile individuals, including political figures, royalty, and celebrities. Zahra Bayero, a qualified architect, is an accomplished woman in her own right, and her marriage to Yusuf reflects the merging of two powerful Nigerian families: the Buhari family and the Bayero family.

The union of Yusuf and Zahra represents not only personal happiness but also a strategic blending of political and traditional influence in Nigeria. The Bayero family has a long history of leadership in the northern part of Nigeria, and this marriage strengthens the ties between two of the most prominent families in the country.

While Yusuf and Zahra prefer to keep their personal life private, their marriage was widely regarded as an important moment in Nigerian society, both politically and culturally. Zahra, who has her professional career, has continued to maintain a low profile, though the couple’s marriage has brought both families closer to the public eye.

Unlike many figures in the public spotlight, Yusuf Buhari prefers a private and reserved lifestyle. Despite being the son of a former president, Yusuf avoids media attention, focusing instead on his work, his family, and his responsibilities. This preference for privacy has made him somewhat of an enigma, and many people admire his ability to remain grounded despite the pressures that come with his family background.

Yusuf’s lifestyle is one of quiet success. He values his privacy, allowing him to focus on his personal development, his community, and his career without the distractions of fame.
