Popular Actress, ANITA JOSEPH
It can be said that, these days, a lot of female artistes are on a roller coaster ride. They are doing big things, launching new houses and buying exotic cars while some others have not been successful with their marriage. But if there is one actress who is having the time of her life right now, it’s Anita Joseph. The popular Nollywood diva has been enjoying a blissful marriage with her beau, Fisayo Michael aka MC Fish. The couple got married in February 2020 but has been together for about three years altogether now. And from the look of things, Anita is enjoying every bit of her marriage to the comedian. Those who know them closely say they seem genuinely in love with each other as they are always seen cuddling and snuggling all the time. And if you ask many, they’ll tell you MC Fish is one lucky young man. Anita is regarded as one of the hottest babes in the industry. Her curvy, sexy figure always gets men drooling at her and when you add the fact that she’s quite a strong and charming personality, then you can understand that MC Fish has got an absolutely fantastic wife on his hands. She is also one who plays by her own rules alone and not by what a group of persons or the society expects of her. Truth is, she does her own thing without giving a hoot whose ox is gored, so long as it does not affect the next person. The only person whose opinion matters to her now is her husband. A pretty remarkable actress who has proven herself in the industry over the years, this gorgeously actress has continued to win herself tons of admirers, not just for her remarkable performance in movies, but also for her hot and sexy shape.
Days ago, City People had a chat with this charming lady. It was interesting. We asked Anita to share a bit about her background with us. “Well, like you already know, my name is Anita Joseph, and I’m an actress,” she responded. “I’m from a family of 10 children, 7 girls and 3 boys, I’m the 9th child. I was born in Onitsha, so I did my primary and secondary schools in Onitsha, Aba and Port- Harcourt. Because of my dad’s work, we moved around a lot. This made me develop a passion for travelling and living in different cities. For my University education, I graduated from the University of Calabar.”
She explained that she got her big break in 2007 with the movie, Bandit Queen. “It was a really big movie then. It was the movie that first shot me to prominence followed by Tears In My Heart and Desperate Millionaire, it was really an amazing experience. After I did these set of movies, things began to fall into place for me in the industry and I thank God for everything.”
At the time she was coming into the industry, there were some big names she looked up to, who were they? “In Hollywood, I was intrigued and inspired by Vivica Fox for years, but in Nollywood, I looked up to Eucharia Anunobi, Joke Silva and Bimbo Akintola. Those years, I was learning and understudying a lot of artistes. I loved watching their movies because of their intensity in interpreting their roles. I also loved their charisma, passion and their poise.”
.We tried to get her to talk abnout her marriage. Anita is always delighted to talk about her marriage because, she is clearly having a great time in her marriage. How has she found marital life so far?
“For me, marriage has been a marital bliss and will always be. My husband is my friend, so with God on our side, we plan to remain that way. As a married actress, I manage my time better. I create more time for my family.” And what does she love the most about her husband, we asked her? “My husband is kind. He is a good man with a good heart. He is respectful. He respects and loves me a lot. Anything that will make me happy is what he does.”
Most actresses often complain that acting has taken it’s toll on their marriage, how has Anita fared with hers? “Marriage has affected my career not so badly. But I know that there are some jobs I cannot do because I am married now. There are also some places I cannot travel to because of my marriage. It is not totally bad. It is okay for me.”
We asked how she has been able to balance her work and the home front? She replied confidently. “I balance my career and home by prioritising my time. There is time for everything. I give my home my time because my home needs me now more than my career. I have been doing this job for a very long time, and by God’s grace, I have been successful in my career. I am known all over the continent; I am not a beginner anymore. I devote more time to my home than my career now. My marriage is just three years old and needs building as well. It has been beautiful. When it is time to be home, I am fully home. I don’t bring work home. No, I don’t.
And what has she learnt from her marriage? “I have learnt that when one loves someone, one loves everything about them. Love is total and whole. My marriage is beautiful, and it is by God’s grace. I have learnt a lot of things from my marriage. I have learnt patience and more submission. Sometimes, I may not like something but I don’t want to stir it up so I become much calmer. When you love someone, you do everything to make them happy.”
It’s no longer a secret that Anita and her husband share a very strong chemistry together. What is the secret of their special bond? She says it is God. “It is God and He alone. He has been our connection. My husband knows me and I know him. He has been my friend. That is why we connect. When some people get married to a woman, they sometimes stop the things they used to do for that woman when they were wooing her. But, with my husband, it is not like that. In fact, I am the one running away from going out, because I am not really an outgoing person because I have a lot of things to do at home. I am busy at home, trying to balance a lot of things and rest.
This is why some of the reasons some marriages go haywire; because the man changes immediately after they get married. Since February 14, 2020, it has been beautiful. My connection with my husband is heavenly and we are intimate. We talk about everything. We don’t hide anything from each other. Before my husband makes any decision, he talks to me about it. Before I do too, I talk to him about it. So, he is my paddy. Sometimes, I will say to him, “Babe, we are married now, you know?” This is because it still looks like we are still courting. This is why it is different.”
We were curious to know what attracted her to her husband and how they met. Anita was excited to share it with us. ‘What attracted me to my husband is that he loves God. He’s a power dresser, he speaks well, makes me laugh, respects and adores me and above all, he enjoys my company.
Our relationship started after we met at an event. It was love at first sight and it was like magic. I settled for MC fish because you know, sometimes you just see someone and you know in your heart that God has settled this one. I was looking forward to it because we were so close; we think alike, behave alike and we love everything about us. When he brought up the marriage proposal, I said why not? It was a beautiful one. Who again I for marry? He’s the best person to marry. So, I’d say yes over and over again.
A lot of people had predicted her marriage would not last. Some said it would not go beyond six months, but today, the marriage is three years old. Why did people have this impression of her marriage? “Well, they have a right to their opinion. And I believe it’s because we have had a lot of failed celebrity marriages. It’s up to God and man for marriages to end. It takes more personal effort, and that’s what makes marriage to last. My parents were married until death and I intend to leave that example for my kids, with God as my helper. However, if I am to counsel a heartbroken single lady right now, the most important thing she needs to know is that there is life before you met a man and there will be life after the man. The one who left you will make room for another to come. That’s life.”
A lot of people, particularly the ladies, feel she flaunts her butt just so she can enjoy male attention, how does she react to this? “Ladies will always be ladies. Naturally in life, you can’t please everyone and to be honest I don’t pay much attention to those set of people, it is what it is. My curves and butts are hot, at least that’s a fact everybody agrees with. The ladies who think I flaunt too much should just have to deal with it. They should flaunt theirs, mind their business or get a life!”
