After getting the entire world hyped up with two of the best singles of 2018, the feel-good “God’s Plan” and the female-focused “Nice For What”, hip-hop’s most commercially successful star, Drake finally came through with his highly anticipated fifth studio album, Scorpion.
A couple hours after the 25-track, double disc LP hit the internet, the Grammy-winning rapper took to social media to shout out some of the talented artists that “inspired” him while he was creating the project, including afropop superstars, Tekno and Wizkid.
Using a series of Instagram stories, the rapper highlighted a really diverse list of songs, EPs and albums, which included Tekno’s “Jogodo” and the Wizkid-led “Soco”, with an appreciative caption that read: “Thank you to all the artists that inspired me on the studio drives”.
Drake is no stranger to Wizkid’s music, as he’s teamed up with the singer on multiple occasions – the “Ojuelegba” remix, “One Dance” and “Come Closer”. He’s also recently cultivated a relationship with Tekno, which fans are hoping will soon result in a collaboration.
The other projects Drake credited for inspiring what is sure to be another hit album in his discography, include 2Pac’s All Eyez On Me, Notorious B.I.G’s Life After Death, Sheck Wes’ “Chippi Chippi”, Flipp Dinero’s “Leave Me Alone”, Brent Faiyaz’s “Make Luv” and more.
