A Coalition of Civil Society groups in the Niger Delta, today carpeted former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, stating that he lacked the moral standing to saying Dr. Goodluck Jonathan did not have the capacity to rule Nigeria.
The group described the comments credited to the former president as irresponsible and baseless.
In a Joint Statement Signed and made available to DAILY POST by the President, Niger Delta Security Watch Organisation of Nigeria, NDSWO, Dickson Bekederemo Esq, President, Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative, IPDI, Comr. Austin Ozobo, National President, Foundation for Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Crusade, FHRACC, Alaowei Ebikonbowei Cleric Esq, the group stated that Olusegun Obasanjo was part of the conspiracy that brought Jonathan to his kneels because of his personal agenda.
The group attributed the suffering in the country as the manifestation of the evil plot against the wish of many Nigerians.
The group also rated Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as the best President Nigeria ever had.
“Jonathan remains the best President Nigeria ever had. He may have his own short comings but he has the best democratic credentials far and above his predecessors including the present Government.”
The Group said, “We disagree with Former President Olusegun Obasanjo in all fronts. OBJ has no moral rectitude to say Jonathan was not qualified to rule the country. When Jonathan was a good political son to OBJ then he was not childish. How can a man of Obasanjo status is making such irresponsible and baseless comment on Jonathan who had all the qualities to govern the Country when they were in good terms? It is quite true that some of our political leaders are becoming a big burden to the younger generation.”
The Group also condemned media reports indicting the former President of allegedly harbouring corrupt practices in his government
