Mogaji Akin Fagbemi, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for the Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency, has pledged to place youths at the heart of his legislative agenda, donating N1 million to support the Ibadan North-West Youth Summit.
Fagbemi made the commitment while speaking at the summit, where he described young people as indispensable stakeholders whose energy, ideas and talents must be harnessed for meaningful development across the constituency.
He said his intervention was not merely a campaign gesture, stressing that his commitment to youth development would extend beyond the 2027 elections.
According to him, young people deserve greater opportunities in governance, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, empowerment and other areas capable of improving their livelihoods and securing their future.
“Youths will be prioritised when I am elected. I believe strongly in the capacity of our young people, and I will ensure that their voices, ideas and aspirations receive the attention they deserve.”
Fagbemi urged youths in Ibadan North-West to remain united and focused while taking a more active role in the political process, noting that their participation would be crucial in shaping decisions that directly affect their future.
He said effective representation must go beyond occupying a seat in the National Assembly, arguing that legislators should maintain strong connections with their constituents and create avenues for grassroots participation.
The N1 million donation, he explained, was intended to contribute to the successful organisation of the summit while encouraging sustained dialogue among young people on issues affecting their communities.
Fagbemi also challenged participants to use the gathering to move beyond identifying problems and begin developing practical and sustainable solutions to challenges confronting youths in Ibadan North-West.
He maintained that with the right opportunities, mentorship and institutional support, young people could become major drivers of economic growth and social development within the constituency.
As the 2027 political season gradually gathers momentum, Fagbemi’s intervention at the youth summit signals an attempt to place youth engagement and grassroots empowerment prominently in his campaign message.
He further assured the youths that, if elected, his representation would be anchored on inclusive development, accessibility and programmes designed to give constituents, particularly young people, a stronger stake in the affairs of their constituency.
