Shocking Discovery Under Concrete Slab Raises Fresh Questions About Church Properties in Yaoundé
A disturbing discovery in Yaoundé, Cameroon, has plunged a Nigerian-founded ministry into the centre of a widening security investigation.
At the heart of the unfolding mystery is Prophet Kedi Samuel Kenechukwu, also known as Ekedi Samuel, founder of Mercy of God Ministry, who has reportedly been declared wanted by Cameroonian authorities.
The development followed the discovery of what investigators reportedly described as a mummified body buried inside a coffin beneath a concrete slab at a property allegedly linked to the ministry in Nkoabang, Yaoundé.
The discovery, made on September 19, has raised a series of troubling questions for investigators: Who was the deceased? How did the body end up beneath the property? When did the person die? And why was the body allegedly buried in such a concealed location?
For now, many of these questions remain unanswered.
THE SHOCKING DISCOVERY
According to reports by Cameroon Tribune, officers from the Nkoabang Special Police Station discovered the body at about 9 am while investigating activities allegedly connected to Kenechukwu.
Investigators reportedly uncovered a white-and-gold coffin buried approximately 1.5 metres underground, beneath a concrete slab.
Inside was reportedly a body believed at first sight to be that of a woman.
The body was said to be in a mummified state and reportedly dressed in a traditional blue outfit decorated with gold embroidery.
The circumstances surrounding the death and burial remain unknown.
The discovery is particularly significant because investigators reportedly did not encounter what appeared to be an ordinary grave. Rather, the coffin was allegedly concealed beneath a concrete structure within the property.
That discovery has now become one of the central mysteries in the investigation.
WHO IS THE WOMAN?
Perhaps the biggest question confronting investigators is the identity of the deceased.
At the time of the reports, authorities had reportedly not established who the woman was, when she died or how she came to be buried on the property.
There has also been no publicly established explanation for why the coffin was allegedly placed approximately 1.5 metres underground and covered by a concrete slab.
Until forensic examinations and other investigations are completed, the circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear.
The discovery therefore raises questions rather than providing answers.
HOW DID POLICE FIND THE BODY?
The discovery reportedly came after parts of the property were vandalised by residents.
The damage apparently prompted investigators to examine the premises more closely.
It was during the subsequent investigation that authorities reportedly discovered the underground structure and the coffin.
The significance of the discovery immediately became apparent to investigators, who reportedly sought further authorisation to conduct additional searches of the property.
Security officials are reportedly examining whether there could be other evidence or remains concealed elsewhere on the premises.
THE SEPTEMBER 9 SEARCH
The latest discovery did not happen in isolation.
It followed another search of the Nkoabang property on September 9.
During that operation, investigators reportedly discovered five vehicles, several hundred kilogrammes of food, functioning freezers and about 30 rooms.
They also reportedly found a pit measuring approximately two metres deep.
The purpose of the pit had reportedly not been established.
For investigators, the combination of the underground structure, the large number of rooms and the other discoveries has apparently prompted closer scrutiny of the property.
However, the significance of each of these findings remains subject to investigation.
ANOTHER PROPERTY HAD ALREADY RAISED QUESTIONS
Before the Nkoabang discoveries, security personnel had reportedly carried out an operation at another property allegedly associated with Mercy of God Ministry in Ngousso, Yaoundé, on September 6.
According to reports, officers found 20 people in a basement.
The group reportedly comprised 10 women, eight men and two children aged six and seven.
The discovery reportedly triggered a broader investigation into properties allegedly linked to the ministry.
Authorities are now said to be examining whether there is any connection between the various locations and the activities allegedly taking place there.
WHY IS PROPHET KEDI SAMUEL WANTED?
Cameroonian authorities have reportedly declared Kenechukwu wanted in connection with allegations including human trafficking, arrest and kidnapping.
These are serious allegations, but they remain allegations pending the outcome of investigations and any judicial proceedings.
Several Cameroonian media organisations have reported the investigation, with Camer.be describing Kenechukwu as a Nigerian prophet who has operated in Cameroon since 2018.
His reported disappearance has added another dimension to the investigation.
WHERE IS THE NIGERIAN PROPHET?
Kenechukwu is reportedly still at large.
Cameroonian authorities have reportedly alerted border security agencies and involved Interpol in efforts to locate him.
The international dimension of the search reflects the fact that Kenechukwu is Nigerian and has reportedly operated in Cameroon for several years.
Whether he remains somewhere in Cameroon or has crossed the country’s borders has not been publicly established.

The discovery of the mummified body has transformed what began as a security investigation into a case attracting considerable public attention in Cameroon.
But investigators still have considerable work to do before the full story can be established.
Forensic examinations could help determine the identity of the deceased and provide clues about when and how the person died. Further searches could also establish whether the coffin was an isolated discovery or part of a wider pattern.
Meanwhile, the reported search for Prophet Kedi Samuel Kenechukwu continues.
Until he is located and questioned, many of the questions surrounding the properties, the people reportedly found there, and the mysterious coffin buried beneath the concrete slab will remain unanswered.
For now, the mummified body beneath the floor remains the biggest mystery in a rapidly expanding investigation in Yaoundé.
