A few weeks ago, popular singer Alayo Melody added another impressive feather to his cap with the opening of Number 1 Filling Station, a new fuel station in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Known for his music and strong presence in the entertainment and social circles, Alayo Melody is now making a bold statement outside the music industry, venturing into the oil and gas business with the establishment of the new filling station.

The new business is seen as another expression of the singer’s entrepreneurial spirit and his desire to build investments beyond entertainment. Alayo revealed the ventured into the Oil & Gas sector. For many years, Alayo Melody has remained a familiar name in the Nigerian music scene, particularly within the Yoruba entertainment and Fuji-oriented social circuit. His musical career has earned him recognition, admirers and a strong network of friends and associates.

But beyond the stage, the singer has also shown an interest in business and investment. The opening of Number 1 Filling Station represents a significant step in that direction. Located in Abeokuta, the station is positioned to serve motorists, commercial drivers, residents and other customers who require petroleum products for their vehicles and businesses.

For Alayo Melody, the project is more than just another business venture. It reflects a growing trend among successful entertainers who are diversifying their income and building businesses that can provide value long after the spotlight moves elsewhere. The name Number 1 Filling Station itself carries a strong message. It suggests ambition, confidence and a desire to establish the business as a notable brand in the community. For a celebrity entrepreneur like Alayo Melody, choosing a memorable name also helps connect his public personality with his business interests. The opening has generated excitement among friends, colleagues, fans and members of the Abeokuta social scene, many of whom have celebrated the singer for taking such a bold step.

The launch of Number 1 Filling Station comes at a time when entertainers are increasingly looking beyond music and investing in businesses ranging from real estate and hospitality to fashion, transportation and energy. In a chat with City People Head of TV, Sunday ADIGUN, Alayo Melody opens on why he started Oil & Gas business and why he called it Number 1.

Let me start by congratulating you on the opening of your new fueling station. How do you feel?

I feel great, I feel so excited, I feel fulfilled. Its one of my ambitions to be useful in the society. So I believe having a fueling station is an avenue to create jobs for my society. So I feel fulfilled.

How long have you been planning this?

I have had this thought since I relocated my family, over 3 years ago. One day, I sat down and pondered to myself about what I can do to keep me busy, because I am someone that hardly go out, and I realized that as you grow old you need to have people that you are talking to, so I thought about what business I can venture into. I started searching, thinking of businesses that is not common within my industry. Before that, I have a paint company that is called Alayo, I also had a cement company under my name, so I searched and saw that there have not been any musician who owns a fueling station, so i said let me just go into Oil & Gas business, and to God be the glory here I am.

Alayo melody is a household name, which brings me to ask about the challenges you’ve faced before getting to this stage?

Life is all about challenges, and one thing about me is that I accept life as it comes, I believe it’s what God wants, so whatever God wants is what He will do. My eyes have seen a lot of things but there is no particular one I will point to that is so massive that I haven’t been able to conquer, some people have gone to more difficult path in life, so why should I complain. to God be the glory.

So what is the next thing for Alayo?

It’s only God that knows, he is the shaper of our paths, so whatever he says is next, is what is next. He owns the steering wheel of my life, so I allow him to ride me.

Looking at your successes over the years; right from when you started to this age, what lessons would you say life has taught you?

Life taught me to be more prayerful. Life has taught me to be honest. Life has taught me to be humble. I am known for something that if I collect N1 naira from someone for a show and someone else comes and wants to pay N20 naira I will not collect it. If I had received money and the show is like next year 2027, I will not call a client later to come and collect their money or add to the initial payment. Whatever I collect I always receive with joy. So life has taught me to be honest. If God is leading you, you will never go astray, so I always allow God to lead you.

What’s your message to your fans all over the world?

I will continue to thank them for supporting the brand, Alayo melody singer. I promise never to disappoint them. I believe as God is on the throne, we can never fall.
