Fela Durotoye, a 2019 Presidential aspirant under the Alliance for New Nigeria(ANN), has cautioned Nigerian youths against being a wasted generation that hands over problems to the next generation of Nigerians in the next year’s Presidential election.
Durotoye stated this at the grand alliance of Nigeria Intervention Movement (NIM) and Alliance for New Nigeria on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at the CIAPS building, Adekunle Fajuyi Crescent, Adeniyi Jones, in Ikeja Lagos.
While commending the new coalition of the two great movements, he implored Nigerians to take their destinies into their hands and fight for their future with ANN.
He said;
“Not every day in our lives; especially in our past, makes up our history. History is usually the days that shape the future of any person, people or nation. Most times you don’t even know its history until the future has already changed. I believe that when the story of a New Nigeria is written, even in schools, today will be marked down in history as one of the days in future of this great country.
Are you happy with the way things are in Nigeria today?
Do you think Nigeria is blessed enough to be a better country than it is
Do you think it should be our children that should fix Nigeria
Should it be our generation?
“Then what is the role that each of us has to play is the final question, and I believe that role is as simple as deciding first and foremost to get your permanent voters card. I believe that beyond that it should be joining people who have a similar vision, similar values, similar ideology and you’ve heard the ideology today.
“If you believe that a New Nigeria is possible, then you should get up and get your voters card and not only get your voters card, get your family, get your colleagues, get your neighbours, get everybody that you know within your circle of influence and most especially, within your economic dependency.
“The people that you give money, and you know that the middle class is the ones sustaining the poor of this nation. But the only thing that we do is that when we give money, we do not give instruction with it.
“And when those who have ruled us and held us bound, those who have kept us in poverty, so that they can continue to give us tips and then make sure that when they give us tips, they tell us how to vote. Everytime they give, they give an instruction. So I’m asking Nigerians, especially if you believe in a New “Nigeria if you want a New Nigeria; The Nigeria of your dreams, the Nigeria of our dreams, that is not divided by religious sentiments or tribal backgrounds.
“Nobody ask you where you are from when they are about to sell you fuel. PHCN don’t decide which religion you are from or what you believe in when they decide to take light for two weeks. It covers everybody; we are all in pain, and we all will be required to turn this nation around.
“So I want you to please believe that a New Nigeria is possible, but it cannot happen without you, let us arise and build that new Nigeria together.
“Let’s join hands together and let us build the new Nigeria that we will be proud to hand over to our children they will be grateful to receive from us.
