Former captain and coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh has spoken in support of South African athlete, Caster Semenya who is challenging a proposed IAAF rule that aims to restrict the levels of testosterone in female runners.
According to reports, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) will insist that South African Olympic champion and intersex athlete, Caster Semenya should be classified as a ‘biological male’ at a Court of Arbitration of Sports hearing next week.
In his reaction, Sunday Oliseh said, ‘African legends Must speak out in support of Caster Semenya. This is unacceptable! She is born female. Forcing her w/naturally high testosterone to give up ownership of her body, take drugs to compete is dangerous & discriminatory.I stand behind her 100%’.
