It was a cosy evening on Sunday, February 13th when, Lagos’s big babe, Bukky Owoyemi-Oreagba who is the pretty daughter of foremost hospitality guru, Chief Tajudeen Owoyemi unveiled her new fashion collection called Asiwaju from her premium brand, Hauwa De Zuzu. She has been on top of her game recently as she added another feat of collections to the luxury range fashion brand.
Many fashion lovers and those who love to look good besieged the prestigious Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja where the event held. The iconic medium hall used for the event was decorated in an African way which depicts the tone of the new African collection, ASIWAJU. Some of the highlights of the event was the runway show which was serenaded by beautiful models who in turn showcased the new collection. There was also an exhibition of an art gallery where guests had the opportunity to shop for their preferred pieces, asides the collections displayed, there were also display of some basket bags, raffia purses, sitting couches, frame artworks and some other African pieces used in beautifying the house which was all for sale.
Over 20 new designs were churned out on the red carpet while many also had the privilege of making their choices at the art gallery.
The brand director, who is also the face of the premium brand Hauwa De Zuzu, Bukky Owoyemi was full of joy as many people trooped in to celebrate with her. The pretty first daughter of the foremost businessman took everything after her parents in business. Her mum, Alhaja Bola Owoyemi is a fabric merchant who runs one of the popular fabric stores in Lagos, Rikaz Fabrics. No wonder, Bukky knows her onions and knows exactly who and how to cater for the fashion needs of most women. She is one who prides herself as a leading woman in fashion because she is all about style.
Her look for her day was simple, she jazzed her outfit up with an Adire kimono fabric from her brand. She represented her brand very well and one unique thing about the event was that some of the pretty babes who attended adorned the Hauwa De Zuzu brand.
The designer who hosted the creme-de-la-creme of society and fashion lovers to the launch of her new collection; “ASIWAJU”, from the stable of her fashion label, “Hauwa de Zuzu” appreciated all guests for coming and thanked all the organisers who joined hands with her in putting all together. She however noted that the new collection is an inspiration she wants to use to pay homage to her father who was recently installed as the Asiwaju of Offa Kingdom.
Some of the prominent guests who were at the event were her parents, who supported her all through, amongst her families and friends, prominent and stylish monarch, King Saheed Elegushi who did some great shopping at the event, also encouraged the youth to imbibe the designer’s brand, advising the youth to go into the creative industry like the Hauwa de Zuzu brand and not relying 100% on looking for white-collar jobs.
APC chieftain and former commissioner, Muiz Banire was also there, cultural impresario and Unilag professor, Duro Oni lauded the diversity of the designer who was his student at Unilag and praised her ingenuity brought into the creative industry. Present was also Alhaja Kosoko and many others.
The “ASIWAJU” collections which were unveiled on a great evening is focused on the appraisal of good deeds, leadership and growth.
Hauwa de Zuzu is a Nigerian luxury and lifestyle brand. The designer’s Fulani and Yoruba root sparks her love and appreciation for the diversity and uniqueness of different cultures across the globe. HDZ has been a passion project for quite some time before it was fully delivered in 2019.
The brand is a celebration of diverse identity, culture, tradition, and heritage. Hauwa means unique, wonderful, and awesome. Zuzu means beauty and confidence, all these attributes are merged to describe the perfect aesthetic Hauwa de Zuzu (HDZ) woman.

It was indeed a colourful evening where guests were treated to a sumptuous meal and exotic drinks with great music.
