The story of Lagos @ 50 will not be complete 50 years after its creation without putting into proper perspective the bedrock of its Musical evolution. Many great Music Icons of note have been totally forgotten and relegated to the background in our Lagos history but most sadly at a most sensitive period of history like this. It is pertinent to note that most of these Music legends were the founder fathers of music that has today transformed and developed into other music genres.
Lagos State is a state where all comers from different walks of life gather for fruits that rejuvenate it is therefore our collective right as curators of history who have made a mark of success in our chosen careers to help celebrate history and put history in its proper perspective not because of today but because of our children’s tomorrow.
On Sunday 10th of December, 2017 we shall be remembering and giving awards to the founding fathers of Lagos Music. ie Sakara, Apala, Waka, Juju, Agidigbo, Fuji, theatre music etc. It is our believe that this act of selflessness will become an eye opener for those who have decided to turn a deaf ear to the clarion call of our founding fathers of History who by now are green in envy in their grave.
May the Soul of all departed continue to live in perfect peace.
