City People Magazine team, led by its publisher, Dr. Seye Kehinde, visited renowned veteran actor Chief (Dr.) Gabriel Adekola Oyewo at his residence in Ile-Ife, Osun State as part of the celebration of City People’s 28th anniversary.
Chief Oyewo, who has dedicated many years to theatre arts, shared his journey from his beginnings in acting with Pa Oyin Adejobi Theatre in 1964, to his tenure with the University of Ife, where he worked under the directorship of renowned figures such as Ola Rotimi. He revealed how his passion for theatre began right after leaving secondary modern school in 1963 and how it has evolved into a distinguished career.
Chief Oyewo also shared insights into his historical performances, including his notable role as Odewale in the play “The gods are not to blame” and his participation in international tours, including a 1980 tour to America with Wole Soyinka’s production.
He revealed his personal experiences and the challenges he has faced, including his ongoing health issues.
