In honour of Senator Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC ) and Nigeria’s Presidential hopeful; to celebrate his 70th birthday, a novelty football match was organized by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, other Asiwaju supporters and faithful’s at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos lsland.
The football match was between former Nigerian Football Stars led by the former Super Eagles player, Mr. Victor lkpeba against Team Asiwaju and it was witnessed by APC Chieftains across the country including the Lagos State Organizing Secretary of APC, Comrade Ayodele Adewale.
Comrade Ayodele Adewale, a product of Asiwaju’s political institution of higher learning commended the organizers of the football event while reiterating, Asiwaju’s productive contributions to the development of football and other sports when he was a political office holder.
As one of the guests, the former Council boss affirmed the readiness of Nigerians to ensure, Asiwaju succeeds President Muhammadu Buhari as the President Commander in Chief of the Armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He further beckoned on those yet to align with Asiwaju’s movement to the nation’s number one seat of power to do so.
Dignitaries present at the event were the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his cabinet members, present and former National Assembly members, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and all 40 members, local government Chairmen, captains of industries, distinguished men of the media, civil servants, different interest groups and former Super Eagles players Pst. Taribo West, Skipper Jay-Jay Okocha, Captain Kanu Nwankwo, the shot-stopper Peter Rufai and a host of other players.
It was an atmosphere of jubilation and high spirits with the highlight of the event being the cutting of the birthday cake.
