•Comes 1st In The Regberegbe Competition (Female Category)
There is this female regberegbe age grade group that is making waves right now. It is the group that dazzled at the just concluded 2022 Ojude Oba Festival in Ijebu-Ode. It is called Egbe Bobamaiyegun Asiwaju Obinrin Akile Ijebu.
When they all walked into the venue of Ojude Oba on Monday 12th July 2022 all eyes turned in their direction, on account of their stylish look. They looked glamorous and they were gorgeously attired in Jawu, which is an uncommon fabric. It is not common like other ones because it is not easy to make. It is also costly. They are the only Egbe that made use of that type of Aso Oke design and they also call their dress mode of dressing Ode Marun. What they wore in 5, not 4 like others.
They made news when they came first in the Regberegbe Competition in the female category. They were presented with a cheque for N500,000. What they made come 1st we gathered was because of their colourful and organised presentation. They came in, sat quietly, not talking, no movement up and down, no phone call or receiving calls. All these carry lots of marks.
The Egbe made up of Ijebu daughters born between 1974, 1975 and 1976 was set up on 7th May 2016. It is 6 years old. They are used to winning, anyway. On their first outing, they came 3rd and in the 3rd year, they came 1st. This year again they came 1st. The group is headed by Iyalode (Alhaja) Oluwakemi Popoola Ango. It has Otunba Oluwaranti Lekan Osifeso as Baba Egbe and Chief Mrs. Ibilola Solaja as Iya Egbe. The Balogun Egbe is Silifat Gbolahan and Yeye Oge Egbe is Sakirat Adepeju.
