He needs no introduction, Sat Guru Maharaj is a name that, back in the day, elicited fear in the minds of those who really didn’t quite know him well enough. The impression many had of him was that he was occultic. But, over the years, people have since gotten to know the real Sat Guru Maharaj as a man of peace and harmony. Apart from keeping his religious sect together, another passion he has is speaking up against injustice and bad leadership in the country. Few weeks ago, Sat Guru Maharaj visited City People Head office in Gbagada and shared with us his desire to see Nigeria remain as one undivided nation. He insists Nigeria will never break up. Read on.
What is your take on many happenings going on in Nigeria, and what would be your advice to Pres Buhari?
What is happening in this country is not what we asked for. You can imagine a situation where herdsmen will enter my farm, finish all my crops. Kill our wives, husbands and when I complain you butcher us to death, take them to police station they are granted them bail. That is not a country we are asking for. If our forefathers like Awolowo and Co should hear of this they will weep whereever they are.
For Pres Buhari to cope with our population is very simple. All we ask them to do is to try Maharaj. If it works for them it’s okay, but not this idea, “oh he is a cult” it’s a secret organisation, how secret am I? I say call me anywhere you are, is there any secrecy in that? Then finally, all the retired officers from Grade Level 15 should be given assignment in the government. Their movements should be monitored, they should be protected. Recently, former NBA Chairman of Owerri was butchered to death in his office, This shouldn’t be. We have technocrat who can do it if they allow them. And this is the thing we are fighting for. Pres. Buhari should give room for people to be recognised with their hardwork. The constitution allows it. Let’s recognise hardwork, creativity and all that. Look at NITEL, they have good Engineers. they should be able to help. Glo and MTN can not do it adequately. There are just too many things going on and they can be corrected if Pres. Buhari is ready.
Lots of religious leaders have predicted that the country is going to break up, do you see it happening?
Can you name any of them? If you can, I will tell you they should renounce within one month; whoever says Nigeria is going to break up should renounce in 1 month. We have put in a lot; 20 years, 30 years, 40 years. Are we going to sit down and allow all these struggles to disappear? No. I was with the Eastern leaders 2 years ago, courtesy of one of my devotees and we talked at lenght. I told them we are aware of how they have been so discouraged and bringing all this issue of Biafra. They said they can’t see how Nigeria will still be at a standstill with these humogous wealth. I told them to trust me that I am going to work out something spiritually. In fact, we are arranging for another meeting. Nnamdi Kanu and others should calm down and exercise patience. If we have waited all these years for everything to work, then I believe it’s going to work. I personally will Guru Buhari. I will Guru IBB and others one by one, to make sure everything works, trust me.
Why are you not meeting with the Miyetti Allah?
Don’t mind those ones, they are murderers. How can you love cow more than human beings? How can you hear that somebody’s husband and wife has been killed and you cannot say sorry for it? Instead, you are saying all manners of Jargons. No, it’s not fair, and I am sure something will happen that will teach them the lessons of their life.
If they call me I will go, but for me now to go and visit somebody who is destroying Nigeria on my own. It’s a No for me. There are Igbos all over the world. There are Yorubas all over the world. They are not breaking any rules there and are they not living in peace? Can’t we do the same thing here?
There is this Yoruba man fighting for Yorubas called Sunday Igboho. Do you support what he is doing?
Sunday Igboho is more or less like Omojuomolo. He has made name. He is a star. Because, look, all these men and women in power; they see what is happening but they kept quiet because they have been spiritually bankrupted. I support him wholeheartedly. He should go ahead. Anywhere he sees them he should expose them, then the government will deal with them. I just wish he could be given Deputy Commander of Amotekun and if possible we want the Amotekun to work together with the Bakassi Boys. I told them they should join hands together. Those people are doing well. For example, many cars were going to the East and the Bakassi Boys were at the Onitsha bridge, they saw this big Mercedez car with a Coffin, they stopped and asked them, who is inside there? you need to see what happened after. So, definitely they should come together, if they come together the Northern bluf is just on the papers, they trust Yorubas, they trust Igbos; they know that if Yorubas and Igbos should come together they are in trouble. We need a new humanity, we need a new law.
We can’t just wake up and start bombing us because they are demanding for something. Let the government sit them down and discuss with them. Nigeria cannot go Europeans ways anymore.
So many people believe that this marriage called Nigeria is no longer working. Do you still think everything will work?
It’s a chess game. We just have to rebuke those who are causing trouble. They are even not up to 10,000. let us put them aside and focus on our future.
