In August 2016, We reported exclusively that music star Wizkid is set to join Davido and Ayo Jay as Nigerian artistes signed to global record label, Sony Music.

And representatives of the American music company have now confirmed the management deal in a statement to Billboard.

Sony Music/RCA Records CEO Peter Edge in the statement said: ‘We are thrilled to welcome WizKid to the RCA Records family.

‘He has become a superstar in the African music scene and will be a game-changer in bringing African music to the world. We are extremely excited to have him as a part of RCA and are eager for the journey ahead.’

Wizkid, who collaborated with Drake on ‘One Dance’ off the Grammy nominated album, Views, added what’s important to him as he’s signed the global deal.

‘What’s important to me is for music to be real, authentic, raw and timeless. I don’t wanna be boxed in to any one genre,’ Starboy said.

Now that Wizkid has officially announced joining the RCA family, fans hope he won’t get stalled like Davido whose first studio work after agreeing terms with the international music group was released 11 months later.
