Since Akintola Williams brought Lion’s club to Nigeria in 1964, the club has moved in leaps and bounds and has impacted many lives in Nigeria with countless projects executed across the state. The club has birthed over 300 annexes, which are doing exploits in their communities.
Abdulkareen Yusuf led a team of Ikoyi Lion’s Club representatives to the corporate office of City people in Gbagada on Monday, 02 August 2021 to pay a courtesy visit and intimate the media on their ongoing project.
Lions club is a charity organization that touches the lives of the community where the government is not able to reach. They provide capacity building and also poverty alleviation programs. The club also advocates for climate change and takes care of childhood cancer.
When asked how they carry out the projects and the factors considered, the president said
“We go to communities and interact with them to know exactly how the club can assist. We also join forces with local governments where necessary and we push for global health care standards.
We get funding from Lion Club International Foundation. Our method of support spans education, poverty alleviation and capacity building.
LION’s club carries out activities focusing on their 5 focus areas… Just in July, 2021, LION’s club fed the hungry on Lagos Island. It also carries out advocacy and free test to determine diabetic patients.
LION’s club proposed a partnership with Citypeople to allow their projects to get amplified on a broader scale for publicity.
It is believed that a media partnership with Citypeople will further project the club and the activities beyond the shores of Lagos and Nigeria as a whole.
