The vice-president of Print Media Publishers Guild of Nigeria, Mr Jimmy Enyeh, has advised leaders of all religious bodies (churches and mosques) in Nigeria to install the closed-circuit television, also known as video surveillance in places of worship across the country to checkmate invasion by terrorists. In a statement made available to NATIONAL WAVES, Mr Enyeh stated that it was imperative to install CCTV in churches and mosques to forestall incidences such as the Owo massacre whereby terrorists invaded St Francis Catholic Church, Owo and killed over 50 worshippers.
“In advanced countries, CCTVs are installed in churches and mosques and Nigeria should not be an exception, just look at the way lives of innocent Nigerians were wasted by unmasked terrorists. It’s quite sad and unfortunate, we should endeavour to step up our security,” he said.
Enyeh also condemned the killings of worshippers at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo in strong terms “For me, the massacre of over 50 worshippers at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo is highly condemnable. It’s barbaric, it’s an act of genocide.”
