I take a deep breath to reflect on redolent memories of how you trained and nurtured me in line with your belief. Your positive influence in my life is still making me stand tall till date. My backbone; if not for your prayers and selflessness, I might not be where I am today. You taught me hard work and resilience. You trained me on fervent prayers and cheerful giving laced with having a heart of Gold.
I still weep in my closet on why you had to leave me without prior notice. The lacuna your demise created can never be filled. I remember the last time you took your last breath on mother earth, you called me and told me to come that you wanted to see me before you leave to see your husband. I laughed over it and promised to see you soon. Little did I know that you were quietly speaking in parables and gradually biding this sinful world farewell. I tried so hard to make sure I see you despite being miles away, Mama mi, you could not wait till my return before you transit to a journey of no return.
Iya Alayere; entrepreneur extraordinaire, my teacher and mentor; the one in her boat I sojourned to this world. Well like they will always say that death is inevitable and it’s the utmost price every mankind will have to pay… you are not dead like I will always say you only went to be with the saint to rest after a fervent work impacting all and sundry around you while on earth. You indeed came to the world; conquered the earth and also triumphed over death.
Your memories, including the time we spent still resonate in my head like it was yesterday. All I can say is thank you for being a mother a very strong one for that matter. You were a shoulder to lean on and a praying machine. It’s quite a pity that grim reaper came and took you at the wrong time. I still wished you were around beside me when I was conferred the title of Iyalaje Oodua. If death had requested for millions of Naira or other edibles I would have rushed to give it but death said it’s time to move to the next level and I can feel you guiding and protecting me like you did while you were alive. Continue to watch over me, my sibling,s and your grandchildren
