The APC caucus in a letter which was transmitted to the Senate on Tuesday forwarded the name of Senator Ahmed Lawan of Yobe North as the new Senate leader.

According to the APC caucus, the decision was arrived at during the party’s caucus meeting on Monday, January 9, 2017

However, Ali Ndume has rejected his removal as Senate Majority leader by the APC senate caucus.

“I still remain Senate Leader, ” Ndume claimed during a press briefing with National Assembly correspondents on Tuesday.

He added that he was not aware of his removal by the APC Senate Caucus.

Analysts believe Ndume’s removal is bound to cause crisis in the Senate since the lawmaker will not go down without a fight.
