A Personal Political Stand: Rooted in gratitude, truth and resolve

I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to the leadership and esteemed stakeholders of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), for their unwavering guidance, counsel, and support throughout my political journey.

I deeply appreciate the members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), ably led by Chief O.B. Okuboyejo, as well as our respected party leaders, the Iyalaje of Akile Ijebu, the revered Iyaloja and Olojas, the Chief Imam of Ijebuland and the Imams, and my constituents, for their steadfast support in fostering unity, discipline, and progress within our political family and the wider community.

It is with a profound sense of responsibility and respect for the party that I address recent developments concerning my aspiration to represent the good people of Ijebu Ode State Constituency at the Ogun State House of Assembly for a second term.

My commitment to progressive ideals and inclusive representation has always guided my actions.

In the course of political engagements and consultations, my support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (popularly known as Yayi) became a subject of concern in certain quarters. I have come to understand that this divergence in alignment contributed significantly to the decision by His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun, to withdraw support for my candidacy.

While this outcome is not what I had hoped for, I remain steadfast in my loyalty to the party and its core values. Politics, by its nature, involves negotiation, alignment, and sometimes difficult decisions taken in the broader interest of unity and strategy.

I do not regret my support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola. However, I find it necessary to address attempts in some quarters to misrepresent my person and actions. I wish to state unequivocally that such claims are unfounded and do not reflect my character or contributions.

Notwithstanding, I hold no bitterness—only gratitude for the opportunity to serve and to aspire.

To my supporters, I urge calm, understanding, and continued engagement in the democratic process. Our collective goal remains the advancement of our people and the strengthening of our democratic institutions.

I also extend my sincere gratitude to Almighty God and to everyone who supported me during my first tenure and in my bid for a second term. I pray that God rewards you all abundantly.

Olorun a san awon omo yin ni esan lotun losi.

May we continue to move forward in unity, purpose, and service.

Thank you, and God bless.

Hon. (Mrs) Bakare Omolola Olanrewaju

Chief Whip, Ogun State House of Assembly

Member Representing Ijebu Ode State Constituency
