Lagos Assembly passes budget size of ₦4,444,509,776,438

The Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, during Plenary on Thursday, passed a bill for a Law to authorise the issuance and appropriation of ₦4,444,509,776,438 (Four Trillion, Four Hundred and Forty-Four Billion, Five Hundred and Nine Million, Seven Hundred and Seventy-Six Thousand, Four Hundred and Thirty-Eight Naira).

 

 

It would be recalled that the Y2026 Appropriation Bill was presented by Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of the State to the House of Assembly on Tuesday, 25th November, 2025 and same was committed to committee on Appropriation with other standing Committees of the House as Sub-Committees for necessary scrutiny of Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs proposals under their purview.

 

Presenting the report on the floor of the House, The Chairman, Committee on Economic Planning and Budget, Hon. Olumoh Sa’ad Lukmon stated that “The total Budget Size for Y2026 ending is ₦4,444,509,776,438 (Four Trillion, Four Hundred and Forty-Four Billion, Five Hundred and Nine Million, Seven Hundred and Seventy-Six Thousand, Four Hundred and Thirty-Eight Naira) with the sums of ₦2,106,704,566,113 (Two Trillion, One Hundred and Six Billion, Seven Hundred and Four Million, Five Hundred and Sixty-Six Thousand, One Hundred and Thirteen Naira) as Recurrent and ₦2,337,805,210,325 (Two Trillion, Three Hundred and Thirty-Seven, Eight Hundred and Five Million, Two Hundred and Ten Thousand, Three Hundred and Twenty- Five Naira) as Capital Expenditure for the Year ending 31st December, 2026.

 

Speaker Obasa thereafter directed the Clerk of the House, Barr. Olalekan Onafeko to forward a clean copy of the budget to Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his assent.

 

In another development, the Lagos State Harmonised Taxes and Levies (Approved list for Collection) Bill 2025 and Registration of LIS PENDEND Bill 2024 were read for the first time.

 

Subsequently, the House adjourned indefinitely.
