Lagos businessman, John Ete loses dad, announces burial arrangement

John Ete, a Travel and Tour expert has lost his father, Pa James Etuhoko, Ete, after a brief illness on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the age of 80.

His burial ceremony has been slated for 5th and 6th of July, 2019 at his home town in Kabba, Kogi State.

Pa. James Etuhoko Ete was born on 27th September, 1939 to Pa. Torisaleke Obasowe Ete of Irasi family Odolu, Kabba and Madam Sekuluju Ete both of blessed memory. He had two sisters before him both of them are late now. He is the only surviving son of his mother till he died; he has two other sisters after him in persons of, Mrs Felicia Leo Toluhi and Mrs Bosede Angelina Ibinola.

Burial arrangement as announced by the family

He trained as a bricklayer under the tutelage of Mr. Gabriel Folorunsho between 1956-1959 subsequently, he worked at the college of agriculture, a division of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Kabba between 1952-1964, also at St. Monica’s College, 1964-1958, thereafter, he worked for himself till his energy could carry him.

He got married to his heartthrob Mrs Maria Iyedunni Ete on, 11th July 1964. His bosom friends while growing up were, Messrs Ayo, Ewobo and Michael Kolade aka M.K all of blessed memory. He had great love and interest in western education but unfortunately he was not opportune to partake in same sequel to polygamous issue, his half brother Late Mr. Joseph Ete was taken in his sted, he would have been contemporary of late, Mr. Ihinolurijon in school.

He was an ardent lover of God, he served diligently in church sequel to that fact, he joined the choir in 1964 and sang in church till he took his last breath. He belonged to St. Patrick’s Society and their current Chairman till he died, also, one of the pioneer members of Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Kabba which started in 1981 courtesy of late Rev. Fr. Barnabas Anikoh, other members were, Mrs Oladunni Arokoyo, Dr. P.A. Eyanro,  Pa. J.T. Arokoyo (Tiwatope) all of blessed memory. He learnt a lot from Messrs Benedict Olowomakan, Saadu, and Omonisaiye.

For his love for Western Education, while the children were growing up, they were always enrolled for evening/extra lessons which was not a common practice at that time, in consonance to  that, in 1988, he  sold his vehicle Peugeot  404 popularly called pick up to sponsor his three son’s education for University Degree and Higher school Certificate HSC programmes. He will be missed by all.

He is survived by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
