It is Bimbo Esho‘s birthday and many music lovers are celebrating this beautiful lady of substance, who is the Managing Director/CEO of Evergreen Musical Company Limited. She is been celebrated because of her remarkable contributions to the music industry. She is an entrepreneur and a graduate of Anthropology from the premier and the prestigious University of Ibadan.
Her interest in music spans more than 18 years and her undergraduate thesis is on Highlife Music in Nigeria: Documenting the Lives of the Less remembered Nigerian Music Legends.
Bimbo’s passion strides a wide range of industries, including entertainment, fashion and events management. She is the promoter of Esho Re, a clothing and branding outfit and The Amuluduns, an indigenous events management company.
She is a columnist on Nigerian music for different magazines, newspapers and blogs, including one of the longest-surviving soft-sell magazines in Nigeria, City People. She coordinates an online Chat Group, Members of Music Icons, MMIS, made up of musicians, researchers, music directors, music teachers, art collectors, journalists, broadcasters and people with great interest in music and musical experiences.
Some of her Evergreen projects include Nigeria Independence Parade of Stars, Dr Victor Abimbola Olaiya’s 60 years on Stage, A Centenary of Nigeria Music 100 years (1914 – 2014), Last of the Originals ( Celebrating Dele Ojo), A public presentation and launch of the entire works of Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Faaji Agba Eko, Faaji Eko, Ariya Eko, Thriller Bandz Concert, The Grandmaster, Celebrating Jimi Solanke at 80, etc.
Bimbo is passionate about getting the music industry back on its right course and making sure the Evergreen artistes are taken good care of.
