Several female politicians and leaders from Northern Nigeria were instrumental in supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his first term bid in 2023 particularly through grassroots mobilization and various support groups in the North. Based on reports and activities leading into 2027, these very influential female figures and groups are at it again. They are among PBAT’s foot soldiers whose main goal is to garner support for him in realising his 2027 Presidential dreams. This week, City People takes a look into some of these Arewa women working for President Tinubu to win the forthcoming 2027 elections.
- RAMATU TIJJANI ALIYU
Former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and a prominent APC national woman leader who has established multiple support groups, including the Remi Tinubu Support Organization (RETSO) and Nigerians Unite for Tinubu/Shettima (NUFTS). Fondly called RTA, Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu is an Iconic politician who has dedicated her life to the service of humanity; earning her numerous accolades and recognition.
RTA was born on June 12, 1970, in Wuse, Abuja, Nigeria, into the Royal family of the late Alhaji Sidi Ali Mamman Bawan Allah of Budon, Lokoja, Kogi State.
She attended the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning. Her quest for knowledge and capacity-building led her to obtain a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Doctorate Degree in Peace and Security Studies (PhD) from the Nasarawa State University, Keffi. She also earned a Doctor of Public Administration honorary degree from the Commonwealth University, London, and a Certificate in Leadership Skills from Abbey College, London.
HAJIYA NANA SHETTIMA
Wife of the Vice President and a co-chairperson of the Tinubu/Shettima Women Presidential Campaign Team, has played a major role in mobilizing women in the North.She married Kashim Shettima
in 1998 and has three children. She is an alumnus of the University of Maiduguri, where she studied English Language and Nana has in more ways than one galvanized the youths of her state to support President Tinubu and her husband for a second term.
- ASABE VILITA BASHIR
Director-General of the Maryam Babangida National Women Development Centre, who has actively participated in mobilizing women support groups for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu .She was born 19 February 1965. She was elected to the Nigerian House of Representatives as a candidate of the ruling party APC in the federal constituency of Gwoza, Chibok and Damboa, Borno State, in the 8th National Assembly. She particularly advocates for women and children, especially victims of Boko Haram insurgency.
JIGAWA FIRST LADY HAJIYA AISHATU NAMADI
Actively rallies support for President Tinubu and the APC in Jigawa State. Reports have it that she has mobilised support bfor the President on several occasion while asking the electorates to vote for Tinubu a second time.
HAJIYA FATIMA MOHAMMED BAGO:
Wife of the Governor of Niger State, who has supported the initiatives of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and the APC.
Arewa Women for Tinubu-Shettima Movement: A broad coalition of professional women and businesswomen across the North.She is an active advocate for women’s empowerment, girl-child education, and improved maternal and child health, frequently initiating programs to support vulnerable children and orphans.
IMAAN SULAIMAN-IBRAHIM
The current Minister of Women Affairs and former Minister of Police Affairs. She recently led the “Power of 10 Million” Women Mega Empowerment and Rally in May 2026 to formally endorse President Tinubu for a second term.Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim was raised in Abuja, Nigeria. She attended Aruwa Nursery School, Abuja and Jabi Primary School (now LEA Primary School, Jabi), for her nursery and primary school education before preceding to Federal Government Girls College, Bwari, Abuja for her secondary education. At the age of 19, she graduated from University of Abuja with a degree in Sociology. At the age of 21, she received two master’s degrees from Webster University, an MBA and MA. She did her mandatory National Youth Service Corps at NNPC, Kaduna zonal office.
HANNATU MUSAWA (KATSINA)
The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy. She was a vocal supporter during the 2023 campaign and remains a key ally in his cabinet. Hannatu Musa Musawa (born November 1, 1974) is a Nigerian lawyer, politician, author, and human rights activist currently serving as the Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy. Appointed by President Bola Tinubu in 2023, she previously served as special advisor on culture and entertainment economy. She is from Katsina State, originating from a political family
- MARIYA MAHMOUD BUNKURE (KANO)
Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), recognized for her grassroots mobilization in support of the Renewed Hope agenda. Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure (born 15 January 1978) is a Nigerian medical doctor and politician who has served as the minister of state for the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria since 2023.She was previously the Commissioner for Higher Education in Kano State.
HAJIA ZAINAB ABUBAKAR IBRAHIM (TARABA)
Deputy National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC). She serves as the Chairman of the planning committee for the 10 million women empowerment rally supporting the President’s 2027 bid.She is also the first female Deputy National Chairman of IPAC, elected in December 2025, and Chairman of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe board.
She has been endorsed by support groups to contest the Taraba North Senatorial seat in 2027 and is widely known for her advocacy on women’s political inclusion, including reserved legislative seats and the “twinning” gender-balance system.
From a prominent political family in Taraba State, she is the daughter of a former senator and sister to the late Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan (“Mama Taraba”). A trained lawyer, she previously served as a legislative aide for 8 years.
HADIZA SABUWA BALARABE
The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State and a major political figure who has led rallies and marches in support of the APC.Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe (born 26 August 1966) is a Nigerian politician and medical doctor who has served as the deputy governor of Kaduna State .She is the first Female Deputy governor of the state under the All Progressives Congress and re-elected in 2023.

National President of Arewa Women for Tinubu/Shettima, a group dedicated to mobilizing grassroots support across the North. She is more than just a female politician; she is an icon, a mentor, and an amazon of change in Kaduna State and the North. Her contributions to politics, mentorship of the youth, and advocacy for social justice make her a remarkable figure in contemporary Nigerian society. COO, Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission.Aisha Rimi is from Katsina State . She is the founding partner at Africa Law Practice (ALP NG & Co), a commercial law firm in Nigeria. She is a law graduate (LLB and LLM) of the University of Buckingham in England. She is currently mobilising heavily for President Tinubu for reelection in 2027.
ZUBAIDA UMAR ABUBAKAR
Zubaida Umar Abubakar (born 21 May 1977) is an administrator and Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA),appointed on March 15, 2024 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. She is a native of Birnin Kebbi in Kebbi State in the Northern part of Nigeria.
BINTA BELLO
Managing Director of the Nigerian Electricity Liability Management Company,she is one of the active women selling the Tinubu 2nd term presidency. Bello was born in Ibuzor, Delta State to a military officer father. She moved all around the country before finally returning to her native Gombe State. She obtained a grade II certificate from W.T.C Bajoga, Gombe State in 1988, a Diploma in Public Administration from the University of Jos in 1995.Binta is one of the busiest female northern Politicians Working to actualize the Tinubu 2027 agenda through advocacy and campaigns throughout the ward levels in Gombe State.
