Music group Remedies was one of the biggest groups in Nigeria in the late 90s. The group which consisted of Tony Tetuila, Eedris Abdulkareem and Eddy Remedy had hit songs like Shakomo, Sade, Judie and so on rocking the airwaves before they split. The split saw Tony Tetuila dish out “My Car” and Eedris Abdulkareem came out with the “Mr. Lecturer” series but very little was heard of Eddy Remedy after the year 2001. City People’s DANIJI EMMANUEL had a quick session with Eddy Remedy at the recently concluded City People Movie Awards, where he revealed exclusively the plan of the music group reuniting and what he has been up to lately. Enjoy.
It’s been a while, a lot of people would want to hear from you, so tell us what you’ve been up to?
Yeah! Eddy Remedy has been working hard over the years. It’s been a long time and I want to say to all my fans out there, I’m sorry it took this long to be back, but I’m back and that’s the most important thing I am back with a couple of things. The first been that I’m working with the brothers from Remedies; yes, this is an exclusive. The Remedies are back and we are working on a new album; we are doing a lot of collaborations with the young acts. Don’t mind what you heard about the Remedies falling apart years ago. I am also working on my own new album, its titled “Shey Na Me Be This”, that’s another exclusive, so watch out.
So what are you bringing differently this time around?
The important thing is that we know that collabos are the in-thing right now, so we are trying our very best to make sure that we collaborate with all these young acts right now because they are doing very well. They’ve taken our music game to the next level and we want to play at that level with our style.
What did it take to revive the group Remedies?
It took a lot. We’ve been working on it for about 4-5 years now, and we thank God that it has actualized this year. It took a lot of dedication and hardwork.
Who took the first step in reuniting you all?
Well, that’s a very important question. I think it just happened like that. We had two shows; some organizations contacted us for 2 shows and they wanted us to perform as a group (Remedies) just like in the good old days. We came together and did the show and we saw how the fans reacted and we were moved. So we felt its time to do something for the fans again, thus our reunion.
Tell us about the new Remedies album set to drop?
It’s a bomb. It’s a 12 tracer album and it’s going to be massive. I can’t go into much detail for now but we’ve worked and featured quite a number of acts. Phyno is on the album, so watch out.
Is Remedies coming back together as a full time group just like before or this is just a temporary reunion?
We are coming back together as a group but we still have our solo jobs.
So, under what label would the Remedies be on?
We have our own record label, it is called Remedies Record and we have some artistes under the label. We have Jayboi under the label and some other acts.
What should we be expecting from the forthcoming project?
Wonderful songs, we are going to be remixing our hit songs; Sade, Sakomo and Judile.
