Below are excerpts.
Please share with us the story of this new business that you have
It is a finger food company that is into grilling. We have called it PoshFood Logistics. Posh means my full name. Princess Oluwatoyin Shoremekun. That is the full meaning of Posh. The business is about Grilling Fish, Turkey, Chicken, Catfish. We do any kind of grilling. We serve them at parties. And we do delivery to homes. We do it at events also. Whenever anybody is having a birthday party, wedding ceremonies, house warming, we go to events and do our grills for the event.
We operate online.
When we first started this business, the idea just came to me and I called my husband and I told him that he should let us be doing something like this. He agreed. We started first, by sourcing for the raw materials. We identified where we can be getting them. We started with the selling and buying of chicken, fish, turkey.
We got to know where we can get all these variety of fish and prawns, salmon. We got to meet a lot of people who helped us. We bought freezers to store them, and get them refrigerated. So, all our products are fresh.
When did you start the business?
We started in February this year. We’ve done a lot of events. We started with Olori’s birthday party. That was on April 15. That was what brought us into the limelight. We went to the palace to cater. Olori didn’t want to do something big but we convinced her. I told her I want to showcase my work. She agreed. So, through that event, a lot of people came to know about the business.
When we told Kabiyeesi also, he was so happy. He invited us for a discussion. At that time our brand name was (PAOS) Prince Adesola Ogunwusi Shoremekun (my full name) it was Kabiyeesi that suggested that we should just make it small, because of registration and that we should call it POSH.
Kabiyeesi was the one that said we should add Logistics to our brand name. He said it will be nice like that. He said he is interested in the business.
We made him the Chairman of the company, and my husband is the Vice-Chairman. I am the CEO. The next event we did was when Abike Jagaban, the blogger, was having her birthday. We did all the Grills for the event. We did it. Since then, people got to know us and they now call me to book for their event. We are on Instagram. A lot of people follow us and we have been gaining more customers. You can follow us on PoshFoodlogistcis on Instagram. When you think Grills, think Poshfoods. We will give you the best Grill deals.
What I do is that I constantly post our delicacies on my status and people keep asking how much. They will then ask us to do delivery for them. We have done close to 20 events, if not more. The list is long. We are making good progress. We were also at Uncle Dele Momodu’s Chieftaincy as the Aare in Iwo. We went to Iwo to cater. When Kabiyeesi was opening his resort we were the ones that catered. We did the Grills. A friend of mine did the burial of his late mum, in Ilaro, we catered. We did the Grills for Solape Buruji in Ago-Iwoye.
How affordable is it?
Our prices are affordable, very affordable. In fact, a lot of people usually contact me and we usually negotiate prices. When the request is a lot, plenty I normally give a generous discount. If your request is a lot our prices is usually affordable.
It all depends on their kind of orders also and the kind of fish they want.
We have Salam fish. That one is very pricy because that one is imported fish. Anyone that request for Salmon fish must be able to pay for it. Prawns is also very expensive. We have categorised it. There is VVIP. There is an Executive. There is Premium. There is Regular. For VVIP, we use Salmon Fish. For Executives, we use Crocker Fish for them. It depends on what you want. What we normally use mostly is Tilapia Fish. And it is very good.
There is one fish that they call Owere Fish. It is very big. It is sweeter. It is good. But a lot of people don’t know about the fish. Since I started this business, I got to know about several fishes all over the world.
Most of the fishes we have in the market are imported. Its only few that we go to the market to buy.
Has Kabiyeesi helped in any way?
(Husband comes in…) Oh yes, let me add that Kabiyeesi has been very, very supportive. During the Olojo Festival, we got contracts from Kabiyeesi to cater for like 600 guests. Then we had the VIIP, Regular and Premium for the guests. We usually serve fries with it. We serve chips also. We serve chips also. We serve Salad and Vegetables with it. We’ve got sauce. Sometimes if its VVIP it comes with Gizzard and Prawns.
(Wife comes in) At times we serve with fried plantain, we mix it. We used fried yam and serve it with fish. By the time we set it out in a place, you will like it. It usually looks colourful. All the things we use as our materials we source from Italy. My husband understands how things work in Italy. My husband has lived there before. He has lived there for almost 16 years. We just got back from the Airport now, where we went to take delivery of our goods from Italy for the Salad. We prepare our Pepper Suya by ourselves, we don’t buy from Mallam. That is why our Pepper Suya tastes different from all the ones they are selling from the market.
What is your message to your potentials customers?
I am trying to use this opportunity to market my business. They should try us today. They will be so happy. We would make their event a memorable event for them. We will POSH their events for them. We are not going to stop at events alone, we are planning to open an eatery in the nearest feature. We want to open branches here in Lagos, Ife, everywhere. I put what we do on my status a few days ago and some of our people in America said they want. They want to taste it. They said how I can get it to them in New York and Atlanta Georgia.
