Engr. OLALEKAN Becomes Asiwaju Musulumi Of Osogbo
Engr. Olalekan Badmus, son of the Osogbo-born foremost industrialist and Chairman, Tuns Farm, Alhaji Khamis Olatunde Badmus, is on his way to becoming the Asiwaju Musulumi of Osogboland. And this authoritative.
Alhaji Badmus who is the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland had nominated his son for the revered Islamic title. The position allotted to him (Chief Badmus) is part of resolutions of the Osogbo Islamic elders in other to put a stop to the crisis that has plagued the Islamic community of the town for a while now.
It would be recalled that the Special Adviser on Political Affairs to Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, Mr. Muniru Raji was on 26th November, 2024, appointed as Asiwaju Musulumi of Osogboland by the Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Musa Animasahun.
The appointment, however, didn’t go down well with some people, particularly the Advisory Committee for Osogbo Central Mosque known as Alasaro of Osogbo, who claimed to be a major deciding factor when it comes to Islamic tittles in Osogbo. The Alasaro didn’t only decried their marginalization from the appointment but also described it as a violation of the laid down procedures for the post.
Their main point of argument basically is that Muniru Raji’s appointment doesn’t represent the interest of the majority of Muslim community in Osogbo.
So there has been serious division and a lot of back and forth arguments over the matter between the supporters of Alhaji Munirudeen Raji and that of Adekilekun family of Alhaji Olatunde Badmus.
But now the stakeholders have decided to put things in the right perspectives in other for peace to reign. They have since reassigned the tittles by giving Alhaji Olatunde Badmus the post of Asiwaju Musulumi of Osogboland, and Alhaji Munirudeen Adebayo Raji the Jagunmolu Adeen of Osogboland.
These decisions were reached by the concerned Islamic stakeholders in Osogbo in a general meeting, held on Tuesday, 4th February, 2025, under the leadership of the Grand Imam of Osogboland.
The representatives of stakeholders at the meeting included the Alasaro of Osogboland, the Ratibi of Osogboland, the Mogaji of Osogboland, the United Imams of Osogboland, and the Council of Imam (Majmau) of Osogboland.
The forum, communicating the outcome of their meeting to the Ataoja of Osogbo, HRM Oba Jimoh Oyetunji in a letter dated 5th February, 2025, stated that their resolutions will bring peace and harmony to the Islamic community in Osogbo.
