The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has appointed Mr. Michael Effiong James, the Editor of the Ovation International Magazine, as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) for Lagos Liaison. The appointment was made official through a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, dated November 1, 2023. In addition to this, 49 other individuals were appointed as Special Assistants and Personal Assistants in media, with immediate effect.
Effiong is an experienced media expert with a strong background in news reporting and media administration. He has worked with several major news brands in the past, and his years of practicing journalism have enabled him to travel around the world. He has been the editor of Ovation, the most sought-after celebrity journal in Africa, for almost two decades, which is a testimony to his consistency and dedication to his work.
Effiong is an alumnus of the University of Lagos and a member of various professional organizations including the Nigerian Guild of Editors, International Press Institute, Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, and Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria. He is also a distinguished Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow who has served as President of the Rotary Club of Ikeja South and currently holds a Rotary International Regional position. Effiong is happily married and blessed with two children.
