It has been revealed that Manchester United star Paul Pogba missed out on the Fifa and FIFPro team of the year by the smallest margin ever.
Andres Iniesta, Luka Modric, and Toni Kroos made it in to the three-man midfield ahead of the France international, who became the most expensive footballer ever when he moved from Juventus to Old Trafford for £89 million over the summer.
However, it could have easily been Pogba instead of Kroos, with the 23-year-old losing out to the Germany international by a measly two votes.
Fifa revealed that this is the smallest margin that a player has missed out on the team by in the 12-year history of the world XI award.
Voters likely went for Kroos ahead of Pogba thanks to the Real Madrid star winning the Champions League, rating that competition ahead of the Serie A title that his counterpart picked up.
