Few days ago, City People Head of Tv, SUNDAY ADIGUN engaged her in a phone conversation and she revealed many challenges she faced having another child after 17 years. Please enjoy the conversation.

So let me start by congratulating you on the arrival of your new baby.

Thank you very much.

Let’s talk about the whole experience, having another baby after 17 years,

What were the challenges?

Okay first of all I just have to thank God and thank my family for being supportive, my friends and colleagues as well.

It was a great experience anyway, it was smooth and let me just say during my pregnancy I was so scared at first when I heard that I was pregnant, I was so scared then. My aunt was like don’t be scared now, just tell God to put you through. So I said okay, I just start to believe in her word. So I started saying God make this pregnancy journey easier for me, I don’t want to have any stress, I don’t want my BP to be high, I just started praying like that, so my BP was very low 98-100, it was when I got to third trimester like 8 months, 10 months that was when I started having 98-110 due to the fact that the baby was growing and all, so my BP was very smooth and at the same time, my leg was swollen, my left leg, due to the fact that I am the type that can overlook somethings, I just want to do everything all by myself, my doctor now said you need to relax, nothing is wrong with you, take your time, relax, let people work for you. I like to do things by myself, I love to cook all by myself and he told me to stop eating beef and chicken, so I had to follow the instructions, thank goodness after listening to the instructions, the swollen on my legs started reducing and that was it. Let me use this opportunity to thank my son, Joshua. He was the man of the match, that guy really tried for me, you know, sometimes I will just leave my room, go to his room and stay with him in his room and he will be like what are you looking for again and I will be like, I want to eat something, he would say okay don’t worry I will go and get it for you, he will run and even if he is at school he would call me, are you okay? Have you eaten? What do you want me to buy for you? And he will rush to get those things. Thank goodness sha, he was with me in the labour room, it was when I wanted to give birth they now told him to excuse us. He was there all through and what else can I say, I just have to thank God. It wasn’t easy, but my pregnancy journey was smooth, God made it easy for me. I wasn’t even sick, my doctor was like you are so lucky ooo, some people when it’s been this long, it’s the hospital they will be in till they give birth. I will be like hhh, how will I do it. I thank God, I was only sick for like three days, it was just malaria, I drove myself to the hospital and I was there for just three days during the pregnancy journey.

I just have to say thank you God.

Congratulations ma, the pregnancy was it something you planned? Because I am sure you must have had lots of experiences, relationships here and there, was it something you actually planned for?

I didn’t plan for it, but I just knew that November 2022, I said Emi Ni Ire Kan 2023. Even if you check my profile, you will see Emi Ni Ire Kan 2023, I knew something good was about to happen to me in 2023, but I did not know what it was. I just knew, something kept telling me that something good would happen to me in 2023, though, I did not know what it was, but I just said okay let me just have that faith I wrote it on my WhatsApp profile Emi Leri Kan.  I didn’t plan for the pregnancy honestly, I was expecting maybe I would change my car, buy new house, do new things, I didn’t even think it was a child that was coming. When I got to the hospital, I was like ahh, what happened, I missed my period oo, what’s going on now?

My aunt was like it is a lie, my aunt and I are friends, she was like go and do a test, I went to the lab, I did the test and they said madam congratulations you are pregnant. I was like what!

Pregnancy? They now said are you not happy?

I said I am happy but how, after 17 years, how come? I had to go to another lab  to run another test. They also said congratulations, you are pregnant, the woman was like I use to watch your movies, I like your movies, I am so happy, I like Joshua, finally Joshua will have a younger sibling. I was like what are you guys saying?

I just had to accept my fate like wow. I had mixed feelings during the pregnancy, and thank goodness I just have to accept it and during my pregnancy people were blessing me, from right to left, I thank God sha.

Okay, many people said you did not show us the face of the man involve. Is there anything that we are missing or we need to know?

Anyway I am a private person, I love to keep my things private, my private life shouldn’t be out there, if I wanted it to be out there I would have put it out there.

But you know your fans wanted to know, I am sure you must have heard it?

They don’t need to know, it’s personal, what if I tell them I had IVF? They will accept it, they don’t have a choice but to accept. If I tell them that I am not showing my man’s face, they should accept it.

Since I have been this way, I have never introduced any man to my fans out there. Not for once except the father of my first son, it was when he died they knew that daddy Joshua was dead and all. That is me, I love to keep my man away from social media platforms That’s it.

Joshua has been filling the gap.

Later on Sha you will know.

You and Joshua are just too much, the resemblance is so much.

How do you plan to get your beauty back?

I think I just have to keep it this way, I am just tired of everything for now.

Maybe you should let us into your daily routine, things that you will be doing that will make you have your beauty back.

Ehn, I can’t really say for now, but for now being  a new mum, there are somethings that you need to be careful about, maybe the way you rub your cream on a norm, you don’t have to because you have to carry the baby, breast feed the baby and you don’t want the baby to carry any form of infection or smear the make up. For now I think they should just accept me the way I am.

So when are you coming back to acting?

Okay by Friday we will be 41, so I think after 41 days I am free to go out, I am free to work. So I will start working after 41 days.

I have started working from home, but not acting.

How old were you when you had Josh?

Anyway maybe you should guess, but by next year I will be 40, I had him at the age of 32 years.

Wow

So that means you had your second baby at the age of 39 that must be by the grace of God.

Wow

By the grace of God, as you know so many things were involved, 17 years difference and then the age was not on your side, and people use to say once  you clock certain age it would be difficult, it would be this and that..

You have every reason to thank God.

The first day you knew that you were pregnant, I am sure there were fears that people must have planted in your heart, how did you overcome it? Then when the bump started coming out how did people accept it?

How did you cope during that period?

Grown old how, I have seen people that were 44 years, became pregnant and gave birth.

Let’s get it right oo, you are a celebrity and people look up to you to see you everyday and you know we have different kinds of people in this world, so I am sure some must have even said it to your face that how will you get pregnant at this age? How did you cope?

Okay let me now tell you what happened. I know a lot of them will discourage me, a lot of them will be happy for me, so what I did was to keep it from them, I didn’t allow anybody see me except my family, and my colleagues, it was even when I got to 7 months that I even discussed it with some of my colleagues. I am pregnant oo and they were so happy for me. Yeah that is it, I didn’t want anybody to discourage me, even myself was already discouraged and I didn’t want anybody to add to it.

I am still young, I am just 39 years.

But being a celebrity, they will not look at it like that.

You know the lifestyle you guys live now, you want to look beautiful always.

No, this is my life, I don’t live my life for anybody, I live my life for myself, right from the onset, that is me, I don’t need to do things because people are doing them. I don’t always have to  follow the trend, I don’t do that.

When you wanted to give birth, did you travel out of the country?

I planned to do that, but I just felt there was no need to stress myself so much, let me just stay in Nigeria, my families are around, let me just stay, even someone said I was suppose to give birth abroad and not in Nigeria and I was like anywhere you are, make it your sanctuary, that is my own philosophy.

So you stayed away from acting for the whole period?

I stopped acting after 4 months, I stayed away for 5 months.

Congratulations once again.

Thank you.
