Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka popularly called GNI is one of the top contenders for the governorship slot in Ogun State. He is from Yewa in Ogun State. And his running mate is Mrs. Bisi Okeowo-Bolade who is from Ogbogbo, a sleepy town near Ijebu-Ode.
Many don’t know why GNI and the party picked this ever smiling woman. We can tell you, that her pedigree and clout in the political arena would any day earn her respect from anyone as far as Ogun politics is concerned. Those who happen to know her will readily attest to the fact that her clout and influence is so huge that it will open any door in Ogun State and even beyond.
Aside from the fact that Madam Bisi Okewowo is a strong grassroots politician who is a trusted ally of ADC leadership, she’s also a self-made businesswoman courtesy of her flourishing trade among others.
Olabisi Okeowo Bolade is a resolute and articulate crusader and an advocate for Women’s Rights. She is a pioneering member of several rights groups in Ogun State and Nigeria by extension.
Her mother is from a ruling house in Owu ijebu. Sikunoye family, the present Oba, is her mother’s younger brother
BOB, as she’s fondly called, traversed courageously where men fear to tread. She remained consistent without minding the hazards to her person in a society where critical voices are loathed by unjust system which rewards the crook and punishes the just.
For those who know her, she is a credible, no-excuse and value based leader. An astute entrepreneur and social worker with extensive experience in providing support for the actualization of organizational goals and aspirations, seeking to utilize past and current experiences in with a dynamic group seeking to serve and create meaningful life for the Nigerian grassroots.
Olabisi Okeowo was born in Lagos, and she grew up in Ibadan and started her schooling at Ebenezer Church Primary School Oke-Ado Ibadan, where she obtained the first school leaving certificate. She thereafter moved to St Anne’s School Ibadan, where she passed her West Africa School Certificate. She pursued her A’ levels at North Corner Pre University Lewes East Sussex.
She later proceeded to Ogun State University, Ago Iwoye, where she got a B Phil, Philosophy. She advanced to Ajayi Crowther University and bagged her Masters in Business Administration, MBA.
She owns a Diploma in Public Administration – Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria. She is also Fellow – Institute of Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Admin of Nigeria (FCILGPAN) and Royal Society for Encouragement of Arts, Science, Commerce and Financial Management (FRSA). She belongs to the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria.
Olabisi Okeowo has over 25 years’ experience in human resources and community development in Nigeria. She cut her teeth in business administration as the executive director of Mitob Ventures Limited, where her role as Operations Director of Mitob included managing the various arms of the business for profitability and facilitation of business transactions especially the supply of contracts with government and government parastatals.
She later joined Metropolitan Motors as Director, Sales and Marketing. Metropolitan Motors is an authorized dealer of Toyota Motors, Hyundai Motors and Sole representative of Nigeria’s foremost leader in the automobile market, Bhajaj Motors. My role was the sales and marketing of all the various branches of the company and business development and Innovation. It was my function to plan, monitor, deploy and evaluate the strategic plans of the company across the various platforms and sales regions.
Madam Bisi, as she is fondly called by friends, also doubles as the Director of TMJ Properties, a company that has investment in the real estate and property development sector across Nigeria. It is involved in the development of several key property investments spread across the Nation. She also serves on the Board of Directors and Chair of the new Business and Corporate Governance Committee.
Her foray into politics and human rights activism was at a period when the military dictatorship was baring its fangs and locking up critical voices. She became one of the targets of the military administration, but her spirit was not daunted, as she remained dogged and fearless in her assertiveness and later became the special adviser to Governor Ibikunle Amosun on Energy between 2012 and 2015.
Her philanthropic gesture impressed it upon her to initiate Modupe Adebukola Foundation, an NGO named after her late mother to extend a helping hand to the vulnerable through: 1. Poverty alleviation for the youth 2. Women empowerment 3. Advocacy for widows, orphans and aged people.
She has also worked within co-ordinated groups like the Girls’ Guide, Agape Christian Sisters of the Arch Bishop Vining Memorial Church.
Her kind-heartedness encouraged several women association to adopt her as matron, adviser and member, some of the movement include: Ijebu National Council of Women Society (NCWS). Ogun State Gospel Musician Association of Nigeria (GOMAN). Endurance Unity Mothers, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association. Ijebu Market Association. Ijebu Saw millers Association Lions Club. Mrs. Olabisi Okeowo – Bolade is happily married to Chief Olaosebikan Bolade Akingbogun of Egba Christian Abeokuta and blessed with children.
