- Project Director, WALE ASIFAT Tells City People
In the last 4 months, Adron Homes has been rewarding its staff through a competitive monthly reality project called The Incredible 12. The project has produced 2 winners in the last 4 months, who have been given the opportunity to operate in the capacity of the Deputy Group Managing Director for a month with all the accompanying luxury of cars, cash benefits and more challenging tasks that are expected of CEOs.
Last week, City People’s JOSEPH SEUN EMMANUEL spoke with the CEO of Brandall, Wale Asifat and he explained the significance of the project and what Adron Boss, Akile Oba Adetola Sosanya Emmanuelking, aims to achieve with the incredible 12 project. Below are excerpts of the interview.
Can you give us insight into the Incredible 12 Project
The Incredible 12 is an initiative of Oba Adetola Emmanuelking to excite the marketers, to compensate the marketers to gave the more reasons to market and to achieve their goals and beside your regular commission, you still have a lot to fight for; you still have a million naira to fight for; you still have a hundred thousand to shop for yourself every month; you still have the opportunity to become his deputy. I mean that’s amazing; that’s massive.
And so when he called and said, Wale, I want you to handle this. Well, you know its always an exciting time to handle projects for Adron Homes and when he called me, I said wow, I’m going to do this. So what we do every month is that we get people from all cadres in Adron Homes, from the lowest cadre to the highest cadres. So from the lowest cadre which is like a B.O, we are going to pick the person with the highest inflow in that B.O level up till RCOO level.
So when you came into the incredible 12 camp, you are not coming with your colleagues whether as a top management staff or as a low management person. You are going to mix up; you are going to see every cadre, every level of office right there at the camp, and one of the most interesting thing we do is that when we get to the camp, we don’t use your real name anymore, we give you names in the camp. So you can look at your own Oga in the face and relate with him ensure that often time they all sleep together in one flat.
Bonding is one of the things we achieve. And by the time they get back to their regular office, they are very free to work with each other and things are moving on very fine. So right there at the camp we set a lot of games for them; physical games, the mind games, intelligent games and we also do wonderful presentations that have to do with the office. So all of these things have points so the more you grow, the more you win in all of these competitions, we give you points, and we also share them into groups, so there are group points and there are individual points.
And all of that together will determine the winner after four days. We’ve had about 4 episodes already we’ve been doing it in Nigeria and outside Nigeria. And it’s been awesome, it’s been fantastic and it’s exciting to see that people are happy and in a very competitive spirit, and of course giving the company a massive return in sales.
How do you choose the winner out of The Incredible 12
I won’t like to say that in the media. But I can assure you that discipline is one of the key things we look out for. A lot of people come to the camp with the spirit to just come and catch fun. But I look at everything. Lateness from event, I’m going to take a point from it. You misplace your key I’m going to withdraw from your point. Every little thing you do, there are points attached to it. Because if you are going to be a deputy of Oba Adetola Emmanuelking, you must reflect him, this is a man I have been with for the past six years. I know him inside out. I know what he wants at work. I know who he is at work.
I know who he is outside work. When he is having fun I know the kind of spirit he carries. When he’s working I know. I am one of the best people to be able to say who looks like somebody that can assist him.
So majorly what I’m looking out for his the attribute of the GMD. Entrepreneurial attitude, discipline, focus, intelligence, your ability to take decisions on the spot. I also believe in having the courage and strength he carries. We put all of these things together to determine who wins the title of the incredible 12.
How do you usually determine all these attributes in them within three days in the house?
Well, for me, these kinds of thing are inborn. They are there always so I know exactly what I am looking for. Like I said, it starts from when I pick you up from Adron Homes, going to wherever camp we have chosen. I look at your character. I’m watching everybody, there are just 12 of them.
Infact, when you are sleeping I am watching you. Is that interesting, I watch every little thing that happens in that camp. I want to see the first person that will meet me at exercise camp. I want to see the first person to wake up because the GMD does not sleep. I have spent loads of days with him in the same house. You cannot sleep if you want to be his assistant. He doesn’t sleep. When i’m with him I don’t sleep. Infact, I don’t put my phone in silence because he can call me at any time. In the next 12 episodes of the incredible, what do we intend to achieve? We want to get leaders, we want to bring out the leadership qualities inside of these people. We want to build an create much more leader within Adron system.
Can a one-time winner win again?
Absolutely, Iheoma has won twice. She won the second episode and she won the fourth episode as well. She’s the current DGMD. What it takes is your inflow first. Your inflow qualifies you to come, and when you come if you meet all the parameters, why not? This time around Seye also came for the fourth season and they both had a tie. So we had to take some management decisions and we have to go with Iheoma again.
Who are marketers in Adron?
Of course, they are the sales persons. The sales personnel, they are the marketer in Adron Homes. And beside that, the GMD was magnanimous to give the operation staff the opportunity to be part of it. It’s a way to motivate everybody. Aside your regular salary and commission, win a million naira more.
Where is the next Incredible 12 holding
Well, it’s somewhere in the south south of Nigeria. We are working towards that. Very soon we are going to be very sure of the place. But its somewhere in the south south of Nigeria. A lot of people have never visited the South South, when we went to Benin, a lot of them have never visited Benin before. When we went to Togo, they have not visited those places before. Some of them have been to London, America, but they not visited their immediate environment, so we are going to have them somewhere in the South South.
