When it comes to employing the service of a chef with a professional touch, the choice of Chef Tolulope is always spot on. She is a chef with class and one of the young and vibrant entrepreneurs doing well in the catering business. She is the CEO of the popular Onyx Treats Catering Outfit in Lagos. Chef Tolulope was trained in the art and act of catering business at the prestigious Reddish Chronicles also known as Chef Stone. Many people who have patronized her services don’t joke with her. In fact, they go as far as referring her to those around them. No wonder she enjoys patronage every now and then. She is indeed good at what she does.
On Monday 20th February 2023, Chef Tolulope was on a courtesy visit to CityPeople head office in Gbagada, Lagos. During her brief stay and interaction with CityPeople crew, she revealed what led her into the catering business and how she has worked hard to develop herself over the years. Below are what the Ibadan Polytechnic graduate told CityPeople:
“My name is Tolulope Susan. I’m a trained chef. I am into catering and our services cover outdoor events, wedding ceremonies, birthdays, baby christenings and so on.
“As a child, while growing up I loved going to the kitchen to cook. I derive a lot of joy from preparing meals for the house.
“There was a particular time when I was in school, I remember; that was the period entrepreneurship programme was introduced to us. We were mandated to pick interest in something out of the school’s normal course. So, I went into cake making. So, after school, I feel I should develop what I have learnt. I then went for training to learn the baking aspect. From there my boss discovered and advised on the need to further learn more about the catering business. So, I proceeded to a culinary school here in Gbagada. I learnt more about catering at Chef stone.

I worked at a hotel after then I worked at an event management outfit before setting up my business line since it is what I really want to do.
“It wasn’t easy starting but as time went on, I started talking to people about what I do. I was baking and thereafter I decided to diversify into the cooking aspect which I am fully based on now. It wasn’t easy but from one customer’s referral to another, we keep growing and enjoying patronage.
