•Skincare Therapist, SOLESI ADEOLA Tells City People

Solesi Oluwaseun Adeola is one of the hottest celebrity cosmetologists in town right now. She’s the founder of Ultra revere skincare brand and also the personal skincare therapist for the popular celebrity actress “Mide Martins”.

Her client are based both home and abroad as her brand is quite known in major countries like USA, Germany, Dublin and UK. She came into the skincare business and has changed the game in the skincare industry by kicking against bleaching and encouraged an advocacy of self-love “embracing one’s uniqueness”. She chose skincare business in order to make it known to people you can still be beautiful while embracing your originality.

In her recent interview with City People’s OLUWATOBI OGUNDEJI, she spoke about her life, passion, struggles, why she ventured into this line of business and everything skincare business entails. Below are the excerpts of the interview:

Congratulations! You just rebranded your skincare company and product from the brand name “seun4dskin” to “Ultrarevere” Why did you decide to do that?

I decided to rebrand my skin care line because it was a way to set myself apart from other competitors. My business was really growing and already contending directly with the industry competitors so I chose to rebrand it by giving it a look that match up the effectiveness of my products and also to meet with global standard. I wanted my brand to have its unique voice, look and feel that will appeal to my client base & ofcourse new potential clients too. My business was really evolving so it was just time to reflect the growth by also introducing new goals, product offers and values.

Why did you choose to venture into skincare business?

When I decided to venture into business, I didn’t start with skincare actually. I tried different businesses like clothing business, hair business and cinematography.

But later on, I noticed a lot of people are always attracted to my skin colour and I get a lot of compliments from people. Right from time, I’ve always been a lover of natural remedy and that’s what i was always using then on my skin. After a while since the compliment wouldn’t stop, I started formulating natural remedy right from the comfort of my home and gave people who were interested.

Times on and on, I realized my products were fast becoming solutions to peoples’ skin issues and I got lot of great reviews from people. As at then I just offer my products free of charge, I wasn’t keen about making money from it.  It was a client of mine that approached me and said to me “why don’t you just go into skincare business fully since you know pretty much about skin care”

And that was how I started and it was really easy for me because I already got a lot of people asking me what I use and they were really willing to pay me if I offered them my skincare routine. Since I was doing great at skincare than every other business i ventured into, i decided to focus on skincare business and since then it’s been an amazing ride.

How long have you been in skincare business?

Well, I’ve been in the skincare business for 2 years now.

In a heavily saturated market like skincare industry, what are the challenges you’ve faced since you started and what makes your brand “ultra revere” unique from other skin care companies.

I had financial challenges; I needed money to upgrade my training and buy more organic products to use because these products are not cheap so I had to do a side job and hustled hard to have few things I needed to keep the learning curve going and hopefully start producing.

Another challenge i faced while starting out was that some people patronized me without paying for my service nor cleared their debt. I had to condone them as a way of earning their trust for my brand but it really did affect me. Apart from those two, I’ve not had any other challenges in the course of this business, I’ve had no regret I chose skincare.

And about what makes my brand “ultrarevere” unique, my brand name alone says it all. My products are original and of high quality. It is all natural! Part of the reasons i chose skincare is to preach self-love through my brand, I tagged the mission “Embracing your uniqueness”, to stand against bleaching, to make people understand you don’t have to lose your originality because it saddens my heart when I see moving about with a bad skin as a result of too much bleach and this is why my clients stick to my products.

Everything we need, God has given us. You will be amazed at the amazing component all these our natural foods and fruits possess, for example, it may surprise you when I say tomato brightens your skin and onion clears dark marks and get rid of blemishes, they revive damaged skins and that is what my product and brand represent. None of my products is harsh or damages skin in any way because I use purely organic products to make them and I select the best of the best to ensure my clients are flawless.

As the personal skin therapist to the popular actress “Mide Martins”, how did you two meet and ended up being her therapist?

I met her through my friend at a movie location and I introduced my cream to her so she said she would try it and she did.  Since then we became close and she has been my very good client. I really respect her a lot, she’s just so humble and sweet! She believes in me so much.

As an advocate against bleaching, how do you handle clients who really want products that will bleach their skin?

Sincerely like 30% only want to bleach their skin but once they come to me about bleaching their skin, I lecture them. I make them understand they’ve come to the right brand because I’ll let them know the risk of bleaching and be sensitive about it by making them comfortable and make them realize there are natural ways they can brighten up their skin without bleaching.

The truth is “bleaching will make them stink” and so many people don’t know the consequence of what they feed their skin now until they get old. When bleaching products containing illegal chemical are used for a long time, they can yield unfavorable side effects such as exogenous ochronosis.

It is a condition that causes paradoxical grayish and bluish skin hyperpigmentation. Another complication of long term use of the same products may cause according to a study in the International Society of Dermatology in 2008 last discovered is that the individuals on long time bleaching agent therapy like mercury and glucocorticoids may suffer from what you call a “fish odor syndrome”.

The smell resembling to a decayed fish is due to the discharge of a chemical called trimethylamine in the saliva, vagina, sweat and urine secretions. Medical experts confirmed that this is the case of using skin bleaching creams that contain strong chemicals other than hydroquinone.

So at ultrarevere, we do not bleach skins! We can only brighten up the skin with safe & herbal products and most importantly, make our clients flawless.

As a cosmetologist, what harmful acts do people engage in that scares and you’re willing to campaign against?

The procedure ‘chemical peeling’ scares me a whole lot because if not handled with care, one can get scarred for life so I will gladly campaign against any product containing chemical peel.

What’s your daily skincare routine? And one you would advise every one to include in their routine also.

I love fruits so i eat a lot of them, it makes my skin glow inside out. I apply my face cleanser before having my bath, then my anti-aging face serum after bath. Also, i use my body wash and apply my body cream daily.

And to everyone, the most basic and effective thing I will implore everyone to include in their skincare routine is drinking a lot of water, exfoliating twice a week and getting any ultra revere skincare products to enhance their skin glow and flawlessness.

What kind of person does one need to be to succeed in this line of business of being a skincare therapist?

As a skin therapist, one needs to be very patient because in this line of business, you tend to meet different customers with various characters. The reason you need to be patient is because you’re likely to meet some customers that will probably want to get you out of character so you need patience to deal with those kinds of clients.

Remember, patience is a virtue. Secondly, the learning curve never stops so one needs to keep doing more findings day and after day.  The world keeps evolving and we can’t stop evolving too. Research makes you better in your craft. And ultimately, in every kind of business, we need God to bless us with the spirit of discernment to know if you’re in the right business.

Where do you see your skin care brand “ultrarevere” in the next 5 years?

In the next 5 years, I see ultrarevere globally. I see world leaders recognizing my brand and my products will be available everywhere in the world just as coke is found everywhere.

What’s your advice to people who always want fast action effect?

Yes I understand that a lot of people want effective products that’s why they ask for fast action products because some have used different things from different cosmetologists and they still don’t get the end results they crave for, the gospel truth is original organic products don’t give that very fast effect, great things takes time, it demands consistency before you can get a visible result but most people are not that patient and “if you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime” which means if you can’t bear the consequence of bleaching in later years then it’s as good as using organic products your skin will forever be thankful for!
