CityPeople recently spoke to the founder of the over 6-year-old school which has a Creche, Nursery and Primary school. Below are excerpts of the interview conducted by Citypeople Publisher Seye Kehinde.
Why did you decide to set up your school when you did? How many years ago?
Kidology School was set up about 6years ago.
I wanted to create an environment where children can develop intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Parents who value small class sizes, increased safety, a connected community, and dedicated teachers find that private schools are a good fit for their child and provide an optimal education experience. Many private schools were faced with challenges of funding their schools and provide the quality and standard education they supposed to provide. So, I felt the need to start a school that can provide international standards and that will meet the need of children in our community in other to help them compete within and outside Nigeria
Tell us about the school. How big is it? What services do you render?
I realised that parents’ major concern is the quality of education their children received in their formative years. For working parents, a quality daycare centre is one that goes beyond being a mere child’s minder. Parents desire a care and learning environment geared towards stimulating the child’s innate curiosity about his environment; the development of his observational abilities and the careful nurturing of his mind to absorb, effortlessly, foundational building blocks for self-discipline, keen interest in learning, and independence.
Harnessing a child’s innate potentials and molding these potentials as they prepare for a life of learning is therefore at the heart of what we do at Kidology.
How do you run it?
Kidology School is a co-educational Preparatory School dedicated to the education of children, aged between 3months and 13 years.
We are a school that is proud of its academic tradition, has a genuine sense of community, and ensures the interests of the girls and boys are very much at heart.
We are located at Oko Oba area, off Akinmorin road. Oyo town in Oyo state
We operate, Crèche, Daycare, Nursery and Primary School
What is the Vision behind the setting up of the school?
Kidology fosters an innovative learning environment that encourages and nurtures curiosity in children, guaranteeing them an early start in life.
How about the Mission?
It is to unlock the potentials in children; consistently provide high-quality teaching and learning that produces inspired, enlightened, and empowered pupils with a global vision through the employment of facilitative resources in a conducive environment; provided by dedicated and motivated teachers, in partnership with supportive parents.
So why should people send their kids to the school?
We have above 120 pupils in the school,
Kidology School provides a dedicated sickbay to ensure adequate privacy for pupils/students, who can be treated without interruption in quiet and confidential surroundings. We provide first aid and all our staff are trained first aiders
We promote a healthy environment and work so hard to prevent infections. We have a very clean and comfortable room for changing pampers/diapers.
Our Secondary school is almost completed and we hope to start admission next term.
