•Reveals His Success Story With His Gospel Juju Tungba Style
Alayo Melody Singer is one of the musicians that are reigning right now. Over the last 6 months, Alayo whose real name is Akinola Ayoola Michael has stepped up his game and he has become very hot. He is now one of the most sought after musicians across the South West and he is now being called to perform in other parts of the country and abroad.
If Alayo Melody is not in Ibadan today, you would see him performing in Abuja, Ekiti, Lagos, Osogbo or Kogi State, just to mention but a few places.
He has, undoubtedly, become the toast of many celebrities, who have fallen in love with his unique style of music. Notable dignitaries dance to his music. Monarchs too want him to perform for them. Without any exaggeration, Alayo Melody Singer has become number 1 on the list of musicians who many notable celebrities crave to play for them. He has performed at several occasions where many kings, queens, important dignitaries; those who matter in the society, and “A”-list actors and actresses wined and dined.
God has tremendously really blessed Alayo Melody Singer and his band. When you see any of his boys outside, you will think they are bankers, why?
They dress well and look good. Recently, God blessed the band with factory fitted 18-seater bus and many other good things. Alayo Melody has also added to the fleet of cars in his garage. He has for a wife an epitome of beauty. His children are in a class of their own.
He just came back from Manchester. Everything can be said to be working for him, which he confirmed in a phone interview, “Adura mi logba o, Adura mi lo gba. Aiye ro pe ogun ni o, Adura mi logba… Yes, it’s been God all the way. Without God, there is nothing one could achieve. When God says it’s your set time, good things will surely happen and come to pass. God’s time is always the best”.
Speaking of why his kind of music is different from others. Alayo Melody Singer has a unique voice and unique style of singing. and he also composes with ease, which stands him out. Even though this bundle of talent was born into a Celestial Church family, which explains his love for deep Christian songs and lyrics, yet he also performs well when it comes to Islamic songs”. He said: “I told myself when I was starting fully on Nov 1st, 1999, that I want to be different. I want people to reckon with my voice whenever they hear me singing. I asked God how I could go about it, I worked towards it and God blessed me with a unique voice. my kind of music is quite different from the others, why? Because I sing both Christian and Muslim songs. So, my style of music is Gospel Juju Tungba, which I am the creator and the originator”.
Wondering how the journey started for Alayo Melody Singer, and how the band metamorphosed into a big brand? Hear what he says: “To God be the glory, I was born into a Christian home. We were living at Iyana Ipaja then. My primary education was at Alaguntan Primary School, at Iyana Ipaja, and my Secondary School was at Awori Anglican Comprehensive High School, Ipaja Lagos. I proceeded to Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, where I studied Business Studies for my Ordinary National Diploma, then later to National Open University, where I did Criminology and Security studies. I was a chorister in my family church, but I never knew I was going to be a real musician. I have always wanted to be a lawyer or a policeman. That has always been my dream, but when things were not going fine, because I was born into a polygamous family, and there were so many battles, I came to Abeokuta. When I came to Abeokuta, my intention was to come and learn how to be a pharmacist, so, I was still learning when I started a band, Alayo Melody Singers Band. I started on November 1st, 1999, when I was invited to my church. When I came to Abeokuta in 1998, I was attending a church at the Lantoro area, but my church then invited me to lead its choir because of the misunderstanding among the choristers then. It was at the Celestial Church of Christ, Olomore. When I got to the church, the leaders wanted to be paying me, but I told them to allow me to do the work of God. After the rehearsal, however, I was given money. The Holy Spirit spoke to me that I would be paid for what I enjoy doing and that means He has a plan for me. So, I went on fasting and prayers. Later, our choir was invited for a burial performance at Sango, I was the vocalist, I never planned to have my own band, but we went to churches for revival services. After the fasting and prayers, God told me He has given me a name, directing me to go and listen to the live recording of the event at Sango, where I sang Alayo Singer all through. So, in November 1999, six of us started a band, Yemisi Akinbo, Arionla Badejo, Niyi Afinsulu, Dele Lyon, Kasimawo, Gbenga and David. That was how it all started, and I have been with the same church, Olomore since then”.
On what to expect next from Alayo Melody Singer Band or, if there is any project he is working on at the moment, he said “presently we are working on our album. But all the direction comes from God because He’s the master planner, we are just doing our own but God knows His next plan for us.
