Can we get to know you?

I am Sheriff Atanda Ayinla, popularly known as Big Sheff, the son of the Queen and General. I am an entertainer who is following my father and mother’s footsteps, so this makes me a musician as well.

How does it feel being the son of the popular Queen of WAKA music Salawa Abeni?

It is great as it has its advantages and disadvantages, but in all; I would choose this life over any other because I am happy that I am from the family.

Why did you go into music?

When I decided to go into music, my mother was not really in support at the beginning. She even gave me a condition that if I went to school, I could go ahead with my music career after schooling. After graduating from school, she gave me the green light to go ahead fully into music.

How has the journey been so far?

My journey in the industry has been good. I have done a record with my mom, which is Gentle Lady remix. I also did a record with the popular Orisafemi. There are also a couple of solo records which I had waxed. It has been good so far, the dream is to get bigger so the hustle won’t stop. I am grateful for where I am today.

Being a son of veterans, what are the challenges that come with it?

As a son of two legends, every day I wake up with some sort of perception, that is a disadvantage. People assume I have everything music-wise at my disposal. I am not saying I am suffering, but people assume I have everything at my disposal, but it’s not like that. I actually also have regular challenges as every other person, I go through the same things as others. Life is a struggle, but we struggle and live on.

Why is Queen Salawa Abeni off the stage?

The Queen is on the stage still entertaining, but in the house, she is literally a secondary school principal. She is a very tough, but caring, nice mum, so when you get to know her, you will surely understand her.
