A few days back, City People Journalist, BENPRINCE EZEH (08068599879) met him at an event and had brief chat with him, and he explained why Obidients group wants to form a new movement. Below is the excerpt from the chat.
May we know your name?
I’m comrade Boluwatife Dare Olayemi, Chairman of Gateway Coalition for Peter Obi, GCPO in Ogun State. GCPO is a coalition of all support groups in Ogun State. We have the 33 Peter Obi support organisations and I head the coalition.
What do you think of the general knowledge about the Obidients, that they are rascals, they talk to elder statesmen with no respect?
I will tell you categorically that the Obidient movements are young and vibrant people that are yearning for change in the country. There is no doubt that the generations that are saying that we are rude, are the generations that have brought chaos to the country.
Are you a member of the Obidient movement?
Yes, I’m 100% Obidient, it’s been a version of that I was elected to shade the coalitions in Ogun State. We are vibrant Nigerians that want change. The change starts now. Obidient movements have given us the opportunity to see what is happening in the politics of Nigeria. It has given young people the opportunity to serve and lead in various capacities in political endeavours. So we cannot underestimate the power of Obidients in the country. Now we see what is happening in the country, the country needs a drastic change, a leadership that will bring change to this country. Young people of this country have come together to say in one voice, that we have to cause the change, we have to be part of the process, we have to be part of the change and that is what brings about the Obidient.
What do you think about the Obidients making up their own part or would they still go with Labour Party?
Well…to answer your question directly, as a matter of cause, I have conceived an idea that will make the Obidient movement more vibrant to make more impact on society going forward. the idea of the new movement I conceived will be guided by a very critical political ideology and philosophy that will drive the change we need in Nigeria. I created the movement called THE CONGRESS FOR NATIONAL CHANGE (C.N.C), we created this movement because we don’t want the movement to stop. C.N.C Is a platform that will be managed and run by young passionate Nigerians engaging in leadership activities in their various communities in humanitarian activities and also helping their communities to grow and all. Obideinet movement are not noise makers or arrogant Young people as they erroneously tag us, but the Obideinets are people that are tired of the status quo, who want a change, and also want to make a positive impact in society, that is why we the Obidient have come together for the movement called THE CONGRESS FOR NATIONAL CHANGE. (C.N.C) and it is stated right here in Ogun state.
So this is the new thing Obidients wants to create…the CNC?
Yes, the Congress for National Change.
Has it been created already?
Well, we are going to inaugurate the CNC in two weeks in Ogun State.
In two weeks’ time doesn’t have a specific date, can you tell us the actual date for the inauguration?
Well, no, because of uncertainties, I don’t want to give you a specific date.
