- The Story Of SCARLET GOMEZ In The SHOWMAX Movie
She is trending at the moment. She’s making waves. People are talking about her. Her beautiful face is everywhere, as she’s presently on at least 80% of billboards in Lagos owing to her roles in the new SHOWMAX trending movie “WURA”. Many audiences loved her scintillating wit in the movie.
Who are we talking about? She’s no one but the fastest rising actress, Gbemisola Scarlet Shotade Gomez, a pretty Nigerian actress and singer who has once won the Miss United Nations Tourism Pageant in Kingston, Jamaica.
If you are reading about Scarlet for the first time, then let us tell you everything you need to know about this epitome of beauty. Scarlet Gomez is one of Nigeria’s female actresses that has turned Nigerian movies into fancy for the rest of the world. You don’t see her in any movie that is not of standard. She always interprets her role very well. She’s a professional in what she knows how to do best. She has one thing going for her, and it’s her natural look, while many of her colleagues think that the key to beauty lies in the bottom of their make-up bag. She has a dazzling skin, she’s tall with a lovely physique. She always makes people’s heads turn at any event she attends. She’s very soft spoken and quiet (many people may not agree with this because of her outstanding role in WURA anyway) but aside acting, Scarlet Gomez is one lady you will love to hang around with, she’s very pleasant to the core.
Just like everyone else, beautiful Scarlet Gomez was born to Nigerian parents in Lagos. Her father, Toks Shotade was a renowned Music Producer & Sound Engineer. She got her early musical influences from working with her Dad in the studio as early as age 7.
Scarlet Gomez was involved in a lot of pageants including Miss Nigeria, MBGN and Miss Global Nigeria (First Runner up).
After her pageant win in 2012, Scarlet started a brief stint as a music video model, appearing in videos such as Timi Dakolo’s ‘Love Song’ , Lynxxx’s ‘Eziokwu’ and Burna Boy’s ‘Run My Race’. She recorded her first single on the Dj Klem produced song ‘Catch Me’ in 2012.
Her break into the Nigerian movie industry was on ‘Dollhouse’ by Kayode Peters. From there she starred in several Africa Magic original movies including ‘Scarlet’, ‘Perfect Imperfection’ & ‘President for a day’ and others.
In 2015 she starred in the Clarence Peters horror film. ‘Hex’ From 2015/2016, she was in the Macromedia Production series ‘Casino’.
In 2016, Scarlet recorded her first studio album titled ‘The Scarlet Letter’ produced and released by Knighthouse Ent. She also starred in ‘The Other Side’ from Wale Adenuga Prooductions. She joined the set of the Mnet Africa TV series ‘My Flatmates’ in 2016.
Speaking on her lead character in the Telenovela series, Wura, she revealed that was her first significant role as a lead actress.
Speaking on the challenges, she said playing a woman in her mid-forties was initially quite tasking.
“The age difference was a significant challenge for me, having to have the mind of a 45-year-old with two kids; I mean, I don’t even have one, I don’t know what to do with children, and then I had to learn how to become a mother and then become a provider, become a criminal, a murderer and all of that, because for you to create a character, you’d have to merge that characters life.
“So I had to get to a point where I’d have to meet the part, and I started making up for my excesses and not starting to think the way she would think and react the way she would react.”
The actress who won the Miss United Nations Tourism pageant in Kingston, Jamaica, in December 2012, claimed that the character is almost a part of her daily life.
She said, “In fact, I felt like a bit of Wura slipped into my real life; they can attest to it. I’m not even joking; there were times when I got to set, and I was talking to my husband, and the next thing he said was why do you sound insensitive?”
“No one knew the emotions I was feeling on set. Only my husband knew; God bless his soul. He would call me every day to ensure that I was fine.”
“For the past few months, I’ve had to reinvent myself to make sense of myself, and when I’m off set, some people still treat me like Wura, so there is no time, really; I get the point everybody is overworked, and everybody is shouting, but sometimes it’s just challenging, most times, I just want to relax and be taken care of,” she added.
