As the August 15, 2026 Osun gubernatorial election beckons, several Osun politicians and groups have publicly spoken against Gov. Ademola Adeleke’s second term. Although there are those avid supporters who claim the “dancing Governor” has done enough in the last 3 years in the area of infrastructure and human development to deserve a 2nd term. The opposition mostly led by the APC is however, having none of it.
This week, City People unveils Osun Politicians and Political interest groups in the state against the re-election of Gov. Adeleke.
Top on the list is Chief Akogun Raji Abioye, a popular Osun Politician and former House of Representatives aspirant. He said Osun voters are “poised to reject” Adeleke’s second-term bid and that aligning with the federal ruling party APC would benefit the state more.
Tajudeen Lawal: Osun APC State Chairman said the party rejected Adeleke’s attempt to defect to APC before he found a home in Accord party while calling him “a Trojan horse, a big baggage, and a liability”. He also accused Adeleke of “fantastic failure in office” and urged residents to “reject him at the poll” on August 15, 2026.
– Kola Olabisi – APC Director of Media and Information. He signed statements accusing Adeleke of mismanaging state finances, favouritism in Teacher recruitment, and “financial recklessness” with over N400 billion received but limited projects. Olabisi also criticized Adeleke over his academic qualification. He said Adeleke must not be re-elected at all cost.
Remi Omowaiye , Head, Media and Publicity Committee, Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council.
Gboyega Oyetola , Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, former Osun Governor, and APC leader in Osun. Oyetola ruled out automatic ticket for Adeleke if he defected to APC. His stance aligned with many APC leaders who opposed Adeleke joining and instead threw up the candidacy of AMBO.

Prince Adebayo Adeleke (BANIK) former Commissioner for Local Government, Debo Ajeigbe: Former Boripe APC Chairman. They all distant themselves from the statement of Iree Monarch’s support of Adeleke recently saying it doesn’t reflect the collective will of Ireeland and it’s people.
Dr. Tosin Odeyemi – Osun NNPP Chairman. Vowed NNPP will unseat Governor Ademola Adeleke in next month”s governorship election”. He said: “this presents a clear opportunity for us to end Adeleke’s reign”. He also dismissed PDP’s confidence in Adeleke’s 2026 prospects.
Oluwole Oke , Director-General of the APC Campaign Council. Also represents Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency and recently defected from PDP to APC.

Other notable opposition voices include:
Akin Ogunbiyi, APC chieftain whose campaign organization released statements against Adeleke.
Others include former governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who recently dumped Adeleke to support APM candidate, Wale Adebayo,saying the initial alliance with Accord party and Adeleke will better work for Adebayo and APM.
Independent Unbonded Contributory Pensioners led by State Coordinator Mr. Awodele Olusola.They rejected a planned mobilisation to endorse Adeleke and demanded payment of pension arrears first from the governor recently.
The body is a strong voice for many Osun State Pensioners especially retirees from the Civil Service.
