Everybody knows you as Kogbagidi, some even calls you “International Promoter, How did you get that name, “Kogbagidi”?

I attended to Lagos State University LASU and while there as an undergraduate, most of my colleagues are always asking me to tell them what I know how to do best and my lecturers were always questioning me about my courses and my answers were always “I don’t know!” and each time I say that, they question me by asking what I mean by that and I will tell them Kogbagidi sir, which means “It’s not by force”so that’s how I got the name “KOGBAGIDI”.

How did entertainment business start for you?

As I said earlier, when I was in LASU, I was the welfare director and I was representing almost 7 campuses liKe EPE, IKEJA OJUELEGBA and so on. So from there as a welfare director I always bring everyone together and people saw how I do my things and from there I gathered everyone and I named the clique”KOGBAGIDI CLIQUE”. People were always complaining about boredom in school so I started bringing in artists and because I started bringing in artists to school, I found myself in the entertainment industry.

So lets talk about your background, where are you from, how is growing up like for you?

I’m from Surelere. My father is from Ikorodu and I have a house in Ikorodu but I was brought up in Surulere and regularly, I always visit Lagos Island also, so I shuffle between Surulere, Lagos Island and Ikorodu.

So which of your projects actually boosted your name “KOGBAGIDI”?

I was managing DAMOCHEE before and alot of artists then so from there I was working with BOBRISKY and a lot of things shot my name up.

What’s the future of the entertainment in business?

Presently, Gen Z have taken over and this is my 25th year in the entertainment industry. I’ve been there for long, and presently I have a recording academy and my academy is to pave way for young and talented artsts to help them show their talent to the world. I have two artists presently who are also Gen Z (Gbolar Mighty and Tee Fem) and I believe that through these Gen Z, they are going to do better in the industry, because almost all the people that are there now are not old, they are like (20, 17, 18) and so on.

So what has been your experience in the last 25 years? What has life taught you as a person that You can use to encourage the youths?

First is patience and according to an adage SLOW and STEADY WINS THE RACE, because I’ve been patient and I’ve been doing my things slow and steady that’s why I’m always saying KOGBAGIDI SURULOGBA.

So what is your message for the youths especially the GENZ?

I always tell the people I manage presently and people that are upcoming, I always tell them to take everything gently, don’t rush things. Don’t be in competition with anyone, take everything gently, the right time is coming. The people you’re looking up to also started from the scratch too so you just have to be patient. Once you’re patient you will definitely get to the top.

Which of the artists has given you joy and which one has given you a difficult time?

I respect everyone so much actually, I’m a promoter so I don’t have a specific artist. All of them give me joy, They all deserve respect, so I love them all.

So what about the troublesome ones?

The troublesome ones like the artist that was saying things about me, I don’t want to say much about that, I love them all, they are still my family.
