+Why He Doesn’t Show Up At Events
Otunba Mike Adenuga, the founder of Globacom is one of the richest men in Nigeria. He has been a super-rich man since 1990 when he struck Oil. That was before his foray into Telecoms. One thing many have noticed about him is that he does not like attending parties. He also does not show up at events. You just can’t find him showing up at events. Many wonder know why. We can tell you authoritatively that going to parties and enjoying bottles of drink does not sit well with him. He likes his privacy. He likes staying indoors. he hardly sees people. People hardly see him also.
By nature, he spends more time around his table, thinking of the kind of strategies that the Mike Adenuga Group can adopt to continue to stay on top of its game, as No 1. Many don’t know that at over 60 he is still actively involved in the day-to-day running of his group. He is into Telecoms. He is into Oil. He is into Real Estate. He is into Stock trading And many more. And he has great guys working for him as line Managers, but he still keeps an eye on the operations and he also keeps injecting new ideas into the business. He believes in the principles that ideas rule the world. He believes every business must continue to innovate and because of that he keeps re-engineering the brand and he has bright Boys & Babes who make this happen.
An insider revealed to City People that with the kind of global operations he runs, he has little or no time to attend parties. He has aides he usually sends to represent him if the event is so important. City People gathered that The Bull, as he is called has even changed a bit now because he has realised that he needs to loosen up a bit with the advent of GLOBACOM. But he still has not changed his policy.
He is safety conscious. He is so safety conscious that he feels attending parties might put him in harm’s way. He also feels it will put undue pressure on him. He believes that with the huge and humongous empire he runs, he has to be very careful and guarded in his ways. He believes a big player like him should not take his safety with levity. He has a set of principles he operates with. And he keeps to it, religiously. He does not like parties. He does not like to be seen at parties and events. Even his own family events, he doesn’t go. Even his company events, he does not show up. Many of his friends, acquaintances and family have been known to have attended family parties and GLO events hoping he would show up, but he didn’t. If it is an important event where he needs to be part of the discussion, he would take part via Zoom.
Some commentators have erroneously thought that he must be a recluse or something close to it. City People can reveal that this is not true. He is not a recluse. If he feels like partying, he does that in the confines of his house in Lagos or when he is abroad. He has very few friends that you could count on your fingertips. They are about 10 friends. They are all his old friends before he became a billionaire. He prefers them to newfound friends. Whenever he feels like unwinding, he will simply call them over to his house at Banana Island and they will all sit around and relive old times.
Of course, there will be ample food, and drinks to go with it. Once in a while, he will invite over, one of the 2 leading Juju musicians to come and serenade them with evergreen music. They usually come with a small band, of about 5 band members, which include a drummer & keyboardist and they will thrill them to no end.
When they are done, he will then pay for their service, handsomely. He also likes the music of one multitalented singer who is gifted in singing all sorts of music.
