+The Story Of The Man They Call AMBO
Who is the running mate of Hon. Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the Osun APC governorship candidate? We can tell you.
The choice of the Deputy Governorship candidate was made a few days back.
Initially, the leadership of the party settled for Hon. Lekan Olatunji, a former Chief Whip of the State Assembly, but some top members of the party were not favourably disposed to his choice.
Olatunji hails from Edunabon in Ife North Local Government Area of Osun East Senatorial district. He is the choice of a few party leaders, while the majority were against him.
There are others who are also been considered as possible Deputy governorship candidates. They are Engr. Remi Omowaye, a former Commissioner for Works in the state and Hon. Timothy Owoeye, who was a former Speaker.
Others are Hon. Sunday Akere, a former Information Commissioner in the state and Engr. Olalekan Badmus, who was also a Commissioner in the immediate past administration of Mr. Gboyega Oyetola.
The duo of Omowaye and Owoeye hail from Ilesa in Osun East senatorial distirct. Both Akere and Badmus are from Osun Central Senatorial district.
As you read this, City People can reveal that the party has picked the Deputy Governorship candidate.
The leadership of the APC in Osun has announced Benjamin Adereti Kayode as its deputy governorship candidate ahead of the August 15th elections.
The party confirmed his selection last Thursday, and unveiled the new campaign slogan AMBO-KAYODE 2026.
Kayode aged 48 is from Ife Central in Osun East. He is widely known as a philanthropist and a Telecoms expert.
He replaces Hon. Lekan Olatunji, a former member of the Osun Assembly who was nominated in February 16 as a placeholder for the deputy governorship slot.
Osun APC’s choice of Kayode is expected to strengthen the party’s ticket.
Insiders say the selection aligns with the APC’s strategy to balance regional representation and appeal to a broad electorate across the state.
Some believe that the camp of Senator Iyiola Omisore should produce the Deputy Governorship candidate of the party, having been screened out of the governorship race in controversial circumstance as which has made him boycotted all activities of the party in recent time.
Omisore is reportedly unhappy with the party leadership over the matter and he has not participated in any activity of the party in recent times.
A few days ago, the Elders caucus of the party otherwise known as Igbimo Agba visited Omisore at his country home in Ile-Ife, to persuade the former Osun Deputy Governor and also plead with him to reconsider his stand in the party as there are insinuations in some quarters that Omisore may not work for the APC in the August 8 governorship election.
