- How He Plays Back-To-Back Almost On A Daily Basis
- And He Does Not Come Cheap!
Do you know that K1 is one of the hottest artistes in Nigeria right now? Do you also know that so widely accepted is the King of Fuji that he is the choice of many celebrities when it comes to picking an artiste for their parties and events? We can tell you that for free.
That is why K1 now plays, back to back, on a day to day basis. Most weeks, from Wednesdays, K1 hits the road to perform all over the South West, non stop till Sunday. In some weeks, he plays on Mondays and Tuesdays. Even when he decides to take a day off, his fans and friends won’t let him rest. They will plead with him to cut short his break, to play for them. Some are even ready to pay extra to have Alhaji to their side. They are hooked on his kind of music.
This explains why from 1st December, 2017 till now, K1 has been the artiste of choice for so many celebrities. The only time he took a break was when he was bereaved recently. He went off music for a short while. But many people still kept begging him to cut short his mourning period to play for them. He did not. He took his time to mourn. Now, he is back on the scene. He is stronger, better and hotter.
Some of the top society events he has performed of late, include Oba Elegushi’s brother’s wedding, Oba Joga Orile’s birthday, Oba Kayode Ajigbotifa’s coronation and many more. Over the last 24 months he has performed at Oba Oniru’s 80th birthday, Demola Shabi’s event, Saidi Balogun’s 50th birthday, Eniola Badmus’ father’s burial, Amuda Yusuf’s Father’s birthday, performed for Aishat Buhari, Awujale of Ijebu’s daughter`s wedding, Sade Adesoye’s son’s wedding, King Saheed Elegushi’s wife’s birthday, Slaab Son’s wedding, Prince Alhaji Wasiu Akanni Sulaiman Doggmore’s daughter’s wedding, Oba Lateef Adam’s Coronation, Olubadan’s Coronation, Olutori’s son`s wedding, Igbogbo Ikorodu’s Coronation, Alafin of Oyo’s wife’s birthday, Lamex’s 50th birthday, Lukman Fowotade’s 50th birthday, Mufuti Savage’s Mother`s burial, Sade Alesh Chieftaincy party, Oba Igbobi Sabe’s 3 year coronation and Yemisi Aberuagba’s father`s burial. He also performed at Joke Sogunro’s niece’s wedding, Kofo Adebutu’s party, Sade Adesoye’s mum’s 90th, opening of NURTW new office and many others. The list is long.
That K1 is the hottest on the scene right now should not come as a big surprise. He has improved greatly his craft, which has impacted positively on his music. There are those who have infact argued that K1 had been the most sought after fuji artist since 2016 when he began to constantly do a minimum of 15 shows a month despite the economic recession of that year. It was a year that was very tough for the economy which invariably affected the entertainment industry as the entire country was hit with a full blown Recession. But despite the fact that other artistes are groaning under the harsh realities of the badly hit economy, K1 retained his position as the most sought after Fuji artist that year. He was one of the Fuji musicians who raked in billions in 2016.
K1 has not only been able to break the barrier between Fuji Music and some of the elites who rarely listen to Fuji music; he has also been made the number one choice of these rich elites. Believe it or not, these rich elites rarely listen to fuji music except it is K1.
This has put a lot of pressure on K1 so he has had to atimes turn down some shows. Some rich elites even have to shift their event date to accommodate his tight schedule. Though he calls it Grace, there is no doubt that his Talent mixed with Humility has paid off. There is no rivalry whatsoever as he is clearly, the god father of Fuji Music. His patronage is huge.
In an interview he granted not too long ago, he revealed that he performs a minimum of 15 shows per month and sometimes it is more than 15 shows . His words: “I do a minimum of 15 shows a month. Sometimes we perform nonstop. People do all sorts of things. Sometimes people call us and say we are doing a private in –house party and we want you to come and perform abroad. Can you give me the time and charge.
