It is with profound sorrow and a deeply heavy heart that I write this letter on behalf of millions of Obidients in Nigeria and across the Diaspora to mourn the sudden and painful passing of our brother, friend, leader, and patriot, Distinguished Senator Okey Ezea.
Senator Okey Ezea was more than a Senator of the Federal Republic. He was conscience in suit, courage in flesh, and truth in action. He carried the hopes of the ordinary people of Enugu North upon his shoulders and never once faltered. In the Red Chamber, he spoke with the voice of the voiceless, stood resolutely with the Obidient family, and defended the ideals of a New Nigeria with unwavering conviction. His life was a testimony that one determined man can stand for what is right and shake the very foundations of injustice.
His death has created a void that cannot be filled — not in the Senate, not in the Labour Party, not in the Obidient Movement, and certainly not in the hearts of those of us privileged to walk this journey with him. We have lost a rare gem, a fearless warrior, a gentleman of unmatched integrity, and an elder brother whose counsel, warmth, and steadfast commitment to justice we cherished deeply.
To his dear wife and children: words are too fragile at a time like this to console you adequately. But please know this — your husband and father did not belong to you alone; he belonged to all of us. And today, we grieve with you as one family. The entire Obidient Movement has adopted you. You will never walk alone. Whatever you need, whenever you need it — today, tomorrow, and always — we are here.
To the people of Enugu North and the entire Enugu State: your son gave everything for you. He lived for you. And he died still fighting for you. His legacy is now your sacred inheritance. Guard it jealously. We affirm, before God and man, that the vision Senator Okey Ezea lived and died for — a Nigeria that works for all, a Nigeria built on justice, equity, and fairness — will never perish. We will continue the struggle. We will honour him by refusing to surrender.
We will make him proud.
May the Almighty God comfort and envelop the entire Ezea family with peace that surpasses human understanding. May He grant you the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
Senator Okey Ezea lives on — in our hearts, in our movement, and in the New Nigeria we are determined to build.
From Labour to Light.
With deepest condolences and eternal solidarity.
