Talk of one restaurant, bar and night club that is hot on the Island right now and Maroccaine Restaurant & Bar in Victoria Island, Lagos will come up for the mention. Its located on Akin Ogunlewe Street, off Ligali Ayorinde Street. It is a place where you will find of all the bigger boys who live on the Island gather for good food, music, and drinks. So it serves as a meeting point of top shots in society.
It is also a Bar which has in stock a lot of exotic drinks. And at night, it becomes a night club where you can listen to good music from old school tunes to contemporary music. Don’t be surprised whilst you are dancing you will see the MD of a Bank or an Oil Company also shuffling with you on the dance floor.
It is owned by a slim Lebanese guy called Issa Haydar. He is the MD of Maroccaine Restaurant.
If you call him a Nigerian you will be correct. He has been living in Nigeria for decades and he has been a Chef and a wizard at what he does. He has managed several restaurants on the Island.
He derives joy in running the Restaurant and Bar. He is always there to personally attend to the needs of his clientele. That is why he knows all his regular customers, one-on-one.
Many of his customers have become addicted to Maroccaine Restaurant & Bar.
Once they close from work every day, they retire there to have dinner with their partners. They also dance and merry. All of these fit into the philosophy of the restaurant which is to make everyone happy.
In one corner of the restaurant is hung a board that contains what is described as: Our Family Rules. They are as follows:
Love each other, Be Kind, say your prayers, serve others. Be Joyful, Tell The Truth, Have Faith, Give Thanks, Forgive, Obey your parents and Be patient.
The décor of Maroccaine is nice. It cosy inside, with large screen TVs. And the decoration has been carefully picked from all over the world.
The Restaurant has a state of the art kitchen, very roomy, to accommodate all the types of cooking done there.
The kitchen is directly supervised by the MD. He has on offer 141 cuisines. That is why many of their patrons are hooked on their cuisines. Their dishes range from Lebanese cuisines to Chinese, and Nigerian. They also have lovely sandwiches & salad. They also serve breakfast.
