- Set To Take Off In SEPTEMBER
Bishop Francis Wale Oke, the founder of Sword of the Spirit Ministries and the presiding pastor of the Christ Life Church has float a new university in Ibadan. The newly approved university called Precious Cornerstone University (PCU) is scheduled to take off and commence academic activities by September this year.
The Precious Cornerstone University (PCU), an Institution of the Sword of the Spirit Ministries, was licensed on December 6, 2017 by Federal Government of Nigeria as a private Faith-Based University. The university, which is strategically located at the Light House, Garden of Victory, Off Olaogun Bus/Stop, Old Ife Road, Ibadan, has Gen. Oladayo Popoola (rtd) as the Chairman, Board of Trustees and Dr. Bayo Adegoke as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the university. Other members of the BoT include the immediate past Prelate of the Methodist Church, His Eminence Sunday Ola Makinde, Rev. Mrs Tokunbo Oke, Dcn. Philemon Adeniran and Mr Banji Oshunkunle.
When fully kicked off, the citadel of learning is aimed to be the best among its peers; giving the amount of commitment and preparation in place. In order to fulfil the determination of making the university a world-class institution that would produce entrepreneur and competent leaders who would drive the economy in the nearest future.
According to the school’s management, PCU is expected to produce a select and diverse group of youths with technical, innovative, entrepreneurial and leadership skills to become the catalyst of change. That will be a world class institution of higher learning that will attract and prepare intelligent and talented young men and women from diverse backgrounds in Nigeria and Africa for positions of political,financial, cultural and social leadership and influence in the decision-making processes of their countries. It will serve as model of excellence that will be different and unique by seeking to improve access and quality of higher education for and consequently raise: •Original thinker. •Job creators rather than job seekers. •People of character and integrity who shall build and bless Nigeria, Africa and all families of the earth.
The PCU will be a citadel of scholarship, research and discoveries where our sons and daughters shall be raised to take their proper pace in destiny, becoming Precious Cornerstone pillars of Africa’s emancipation and development.
And also with a strong vision to be a university of excellence in character building, promotion of harmony with the creating an enhancement of human dignity and self discovery through quality education.
The mission of the university is:
. To prepare skilled and ethical scholars, professionals and leaders through provision of excellent education in an excellent environment. In fulfilling this mission however, the university seeks to offer students opportunity to develop 21st century knowledge and competence in scientific, research, original training, scholastic investigations and development of practical skills in Communication, Technology, Arts and Sciences which will enhance self-development and job creation among other qualities which the university wish to be known for. It has also been revealed that for the first five years of its existence, the University of Ibadan (UI) would mentor the new PCU.
The university will kick off with two faculties; Faculty of Pure and applied Sciences, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences and five departments; Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Natural and Physical Sciences.
Bishop Oke, while speaking at the inaugural meeting of the Governing Council of the university, described the insuance of the provisional license on the December 6, 2017 to the university as the manifestation of the dream of 11 years.
